Cadillac to build V16!
September issue of Motor Trend has an article about it. They said that it will be put in a Caddy sedan for the Detroit Auto show next year. Seems kinda strange that Cadillac would be toying around with a V16 after they just shelved the Cien concept.
The article says the engine would be derrived from joining two Northstar V8's together which would make it a 9.2L!!!
I think this V16 or the XV12 would be something that would help Cadillac reclaim its title of "Standard of the World." At least their in the right direction.

On the one hand, that's cool. Cadillac is right about taking their brand upmarket instead of downmarket like BMW and MB. If cadillac gets their act together, they could clean up after the competition devalues their name plates with 1 series BMW's and C-Coupes.
On the otherhand, this is not helping anyone get a new Camaro.

Can you imagine if this new V16 was 135* like the old one?! Imagine how wide the engine bay would have to be!

*If* it happens, it will be 90º because it will be two Northstars welded end-to-end. But don't worry, it won't happen. If the V12 couldn't make it, the V16 has no chance at all. It's just more wet dreams by Cadillac's product planners.

Just becasue the Cien is dead- it doesn't kill the V12 does it?
BMW and Mercedes both a have V12's- if CAddys going after them wouldn't it be logical to a have a V-12 car?
Also I read the Escaldae is supposed to get the V-12 as well.

Last I heard is that the Cien was shelved, not the XV12. An extended wheelbase version of the next generation STS may get it, as well as the Escalade.

Thats pretty awesome. I hope Caddy becomes what it was in the 1910s, the standard for everyone to follow. They had the first electric starter and the first V8 (production at least). They also had a 2 speed rear end in 1914, but that had already been used by another company.
