A couple more Charger tidbits

A couple more Charger tidbits
A few tidbits on the next Charger, which seems to be leaking out with a little more frequency now. This is what I can say is solid:
*The Charger bodywork is based on the 1999 concept car. It has a pretty long and swoopy "C" pillar and a relatively short deck.
*The car will be shorter than the 300C/Magnum cars.
*The front and rear will NOT look like the concept car of '99.
*Regardless as to what you may hear on other sites, Charger will have a Hemi engine from day one.
*Dodge will be running the Charger in NASCAR.
*Charger is expected to hit the showroom within a 12 months of the 300C (next April).
*Charger will be a 4 door coupe.
On the rumor side,
*There seems to be the possibility that Chrysler will also sell a version of the car.
*It's also possible Chrysler's version will debut the same time as Dodge's.
*The car will have rear roll down windows.
*The car will be introduced and will show up in magazines BEFORE the NAIAS this fall.
And from another website, a couple of photoshops that apparently have the Charger's styling theme, though not the actual styling (the actual car will have a different front and will have rear door sections cut into the body):

I agree, if it looks like that and the power is there, I wont have to wait until 2007-8 for a new rwd sports car. I've been writing emails and signing petitions since the first word of the Fbody demise several years ago. I'm almost tired of having to jump through hoops and beg GM to bring back the Camaro when Ford and now Dodge will have products available.

Got a few questions for you:
1)Any word yet on the doors, if they are going to be suicide,....?
2)Could the version that Chrysler gets be the 300C SRT-8 that has been rumored about?
3)With this car going into NASCAR, it has to be certified by July 1st, I think, is there any word yet on when the public will get to see it?
4)Also, will it come out with the 5.7, 6.1, or both?
thanks

Damnit! Someone needs to tell DCX that "coupe" means 2 DOORS!!! I'm sorry, if it has 4 doors, its a SEDAN! There are no such things as a four door coupe! I've noticed that DCX is doing the same thing with Mercedes. They're calling that new 4 door GSL (can't remember the exact name, but I know it had a "G" somewhere in it) a coupe. The new Charger sounds like its going to be a helluva car, but one thing is for certain, its not a coupe!
This is just like GM claiming the new mini vans are "sport recreation vehicles" or whatever. I don't care what kind of cute name you give it, its a freakin' MINI VAN!!!

Charger & NASCAR will go nice together. At least someones NASCAR will be RWD and V8 unlike the FWD V6 jokes at Ford and Chevy.
Car sounds sweet can't wait to see it. I wanted a pick-up for my next car (until the Camaro comes out) but I may change my mind after this hits showrooms.

man...
I remember like yesterday going to the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta to see that concept in 1999...That car had SO many people around it. I remember looking at it for what seemed forever, using half a roll of disposable camera film...I felt it was perfect in every way, and wanted to drive it home then...The only other car to have this effect on me is the Ford GT(40) when I d/l the unveiling video in 02...
I'm glad to see that project is back on track, and we'll see the finished product before too long...Ford, GM, DCX; I'm going to have some MAJOR decisions to make with my next car purchase...choices, choices...
note to DCX: make sure you keep the quality UP and the weight DOWN, not the other way around...That Charger's no good if it ends up weighing as much as the 300C

Allow me to clearify my bitching
I have no problem at all with high performance 4 doors. I think they're great. What I do have a problem with is auto makers trying to fool the public into thinking they bought a coupe when it has four doors. SEDAN SEDAN SEDAN!!! I'm sorry, but in my definition of sports car, anything over two doors (not counting any sort of hatchback "door") doesn't fit the equation. I applaud DCX for making a high performance Charger, but don't call it a coupe if it has 4 doors. You're not fooling anyone! The RX-8 breaks the mold, but I wouldn't call it a true sports car or coupe, nor would I call it a sedan per se. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it isn't a true coupe. Maybe it should be referred to as a "coupe*". Let's hope the next Camaro has nothing but two doors, and can be honestly be called a coupe without any explaination.
