Dear Scott S. I want a Solstice/Sky/Bengal based Camaro!

As long as it's not a Miata-sized go kart, I'd go for it. If it's a little smaller than the 4th gen, I wouldn't complain. If it's Mustang-sized I wouldn't complain. It has to be a muscle car though. Has have a V8. Has to be RWD. Has to have a muscle car stance and apperance. JMO's!

Darth & Sixbirder bring up a interesting angle. Me, I would love a Monza sized (roughly the same as an Infinity G35 coupe) Camaro, and it would definately answer the calls for a lighter and more affordable Camaro. Though Solstice is hefty at 3000 lbs, considering the added weight of a convertible vs the added weight of the LS1 and a longer wheelbase chassis, we would easily be talking a Camaro V8 under 3200 pounds !
I know a slightly smaller Camaro isn't everybody's view, but for a 350hp car weighing over 400 pounds less than a Cobra, would you change your mind.

That's what I'd like to see too.
But I also have further demands.
-SLA front suspension.....NO MacPherson struts.
- Multi-Link rear suspension, similar to Sigma....save your cobbled together mini van and SUV rear suspension pieces for something else.
- World class chassis rigidity.
Give me all and you can sign me up.

I think the 4th gen Camaros are muscle cars, not sports cars. Muscle cars are large, yet powerful cars. Sports cars are typically smaller (ie porche, BMW, etc.)
Maybe a lot of you would like a small sporty car from GM. This is what the solstice, bengal, or whatever are for. If all of you guys want a small sporty car, buy one of those, but don't try to turn the Camaro into one.
If I had my way, I'd have both a Corvette and a Camaro sitting in my garage.

Performance cars should be smaller than the average family car. For the first part of it's life the F-bodies were. Then as other cars became smaller the F-body stayed the same and people began to laugh at it for being a dinosaur, then it died.
I have in my lap a 1974 issue of time magazine with a camaro ad in it. It was being sold as a small car. Yes the Camaro was a sport compact in it's day.

The 4th gens are so big...not because they make some sort of "muscle car" statement...but because they haven't been downsized since 1982.
Camaro, Mustang, etc........should have compact dimensions......THAT"S WHY THEY CALL THEM PONY CARS.

Also the 82 downsize was less drastic than GM's other models. Today, Camaro is longer than it's ever been, and unless I'm mistaken, just as wide. Not cool in a world that has shrunk in the past 25 years. More than anything, that's what makes them seem like dinosaurs.
Mustang sized with much better bodywork would be about right.
