Yeah I really liked that part while they had the declining market share in the background.

The look one Wagoners face when the reporter told him he made $16 million while GM lost $23 million...priceless. Best part of the story was Dale Jr flogging the new Camaro. Also, when one of the engineers took off in the Camaro prototype and you could here what sounded like a Ferrari-ish exhaust, perhaps it was the V6, pretty sweet though.

But what really irked me was the comments the customers of the Toyota dealer had in reference to current GM products, "***** falling off" and such...idiots. They also looked over the demise of Cadillac with that old Cimarron. That particular car they looked over only had 5700 miles, and the thing still looked like garbage....LOL. I guess those Toyota customers can't get over that Cimarron and still think GM builds crap like that today.

Also, didn't realize those pre-buyout UAW workers were paid $28/hr to bolt together some cars and that the new hires are signing on for half that at $14/hr....crazy, no wonder GM is hurting. I'm sorry, bolting on a bumper and such does not amount to $28/hr.

Plenty of price to it. I think there is something wrong with that scenario. I have worked for people who had businesses that were struggling. They made cuts where they were needed, and it usually started with themselves.

I have owned many GM cars and I never had that problem. That's closer to an unfounded stereotype. I suppose other manufacturers are incapable of making ***** that fall off? Ahhh...but that would be a supplier...and many are shared...

True...because it was a Cavalier with a Cadillac badge on it. Still, it was an abomination.

I sometimes agree, but other times...it helps keep the economy going. When they make decent money, they spend that money as well. I am no economist, but there is a plus side to it.

How long has it been since any radio from the factory actually had a "****" on it?!?!
Good Lord! I know the last Mustang to have a **** was 1990 - and the only **** was a tiny one for the volume... all tuning and everything else was digital/push button. Taurus and most all other vehicles were the same. Light switches and all went to rockers or twisties like the climate controls. When she said that, I immediately thought "this chick is in the 1980's or older..."

The more I thought on it, I think the lady was pulling air from her @ss, coming up with some excuse from her childhood. I'm sure (at least I hope) that she was oe of a hundred or so that the producers chose on purpose for the "well...duh... ummm" factor.

As for the wages... now maybe you understand why some of us on this board have been preaching about why the union is doing more harm than good to the industry over the last few years. Not to open that can of worms in this thread, but I personally think the union was a needed and justified entity many years ago, but with OSHA, state labor laws, and blood-sucking attorneys waiting everywhere for a good lawsuit to fall into their lap, I simply don't see the need for unions today. Get yourself a skill - something - and market yourself. If you don't like the job you have, quit and go find another. If youcan't find one you like anywhere, start your own business. Point is, you should not need someone to fight your battles for you and guarantee your job or salary... if you are "good" at what you do, you should be in demand and not HAVE to fight for it.

One last thing to ponder about the $28/hr versus $14/hr thing though... How long ago was the US autoworker starting out at $14/hr? 1995? 1990? 1985 maybe? And what did gas cost then? Milk? Jeans? A night out? a Camaro? College tuition?
So you see what globalization is doing for our standard of living here in the US now? Wages are falling or stagnant, but prices for everything are going up 2-fold, 3-fold or more, meaning you can't buy NEARLY what you used to be able to buy with the same amount of $$$. Yet Bao-Ling -from the grass fields in China - was able to go down and pay $12,000 USD cash money for his new car in China - and he didn't even have a license to drive it yet! How many people in the USAactually pay for a new car in-full when tey buy it? Their standard of living and gross earnings per capita are going up like crazy over there.

THIS is the bad sign to me - yet nobody seems to be willing to face it.

Back to the GM-thing... good for them to be there and tapping into that market. Just don't forget home-base... OK?
