Just curious have you seen it in person?

Its hard to get the true feeling of a car until you see it in person.

I know your entitled to your own opinion and I respect that you don’t like it. But I think the new GTO is true to its heritage but at the same time looking classy enough to take down BMWs. Furthermore its just about fact that we will be getting a "Judge" version and a restyle in just a few years. So dont get your panties all in a wad just yet.

And about the Mustang winning the war with the F-body. Well first I have to tell you they just won a battle. In my eyes the war is far from over. Around here its almost fact that a new Camaro is coming. You obviously don’t come in this part of the board much or you would know that. Furthermore Ford has built one Mustang (the 03 Cobra) in the past 20 year that I know of that has out performed the F-body. And in only beat it in a straight line. The cobra beat the SS on the motor cross track but such a small amount of time I think it just came down to the driver. Ford may have a pretty cool car coming next year, but I have faith the GM will have an ace up its sleeve for 2007.

You just described the "original" GTO to a "T".

CTS sales YTD: 37,229
Lincoln LS: 26,484

As to the looks of the GTO, I think it's a great looking car. Clean, classy, and athletic looking. I've seen the Monaro up close and sat in one (couldn't weasel a test drive ) and I can say that it has a great physical presence, similar to a BMW. Would you prefer Pontiac added 6 feet of ribbing to the sides to make it look "sporty" ?

Good point! GTO wasn't quite designed to be a looker. It had a sense of moderation to it.

The 65 GTO is a classic. Hey don't get me wrong I hope the car turns out to be a hit but I doubt it. We'll see if its still around in 3 yrs.

Well, being that the next generation GTO is already under development... I'd say that it is a pretty safe bet that it will be.

I would also say the car has a better chance to be around for a long time to come without the cliche Retro styling than if it were a late 60's carbon.

I would wholeheartedly agree!

They didn't "paint themselves into a corner" so to speak with retro styling.
