Automotive News unlike typical car rags, simply reports the news and doesn't add their own spin to it. It's simply reporting officially things we became aware of 3-5 months ago. Nothing's changed.

I've barely been in this part of the site in the last couple months and I thought I remembered this coming up a looong time ago. Guess I was right.

Re: GTO dead??

We've only known this since late 2003. When the GTO first came out, GM said it was only going to be a three year run. Isn't it ironic, though, that changing safety regs had a hand in ending the fourth gen F-bodies and the current GTO.

Re: GTO dead??

LoL, I just posted this article in the GTO sec. If it costs too much to have the car produced in Oz then that must mean that for the new car, it will be built here? Where is the question? I also didn't think that it would cost that much to have the car built in Oz and shipped over here. Damm, GM really is broke. LoL, nah, it's all economics.

Re: GTO dead??

I know that this topic had been discussed over the past several months but this was the first time I saw any "official" comment from anyone at GM that I knew of.

That's why I posted it.....

You can wish for Firebird's return in one hand and **** in the other, tell me which one fills up first

Many high up GM execs stated Firebird won't return. You guys really need to accept this fact, and move on.

Re: GTO dead??

I just don't get it , GM ?? Huh ?

If GM doesn't have the Camaro out in 07, 08 or 09 then that would be

1 year without any rwd v8 less than 50k

2 years without any rwd v8less than 50k

3 years without any rwd v8 less than 50k

and how are Ford and Crysler not going to kick their **** ?

The muscle car buzz isn't going to last forever their Bobby and Rick, GET it OUT !!!

Re: GTO dead??

Everyone could see this coming...

GTO was just a souped up Grand Prix, I did'nt like it at all...Firebird was wicked though.

I'm prety sure you could'nt even buy the GTO in Canada, due to the lack of bumpers I believe.

How did you come to the conclusion that a RWD (GP is FWD ) car on a different platform from a different continent was a souped up Grand Prix??

Why in the heck didn't someone tell me this before I bought a GTO?!?!?!?!?!

I clearly remember asking the dealer if the GTO was a Grand Prix, and he said, "No... It shares nothing outside the "Arrowheads, and the word Pontiac."

From one Kris to another Chris, thank you for enlightening me to this little known fact. I am calling that dealer first thing tomorrow, and giving him a piece of My mind!!!!
