It'd be stupid to get rid of it. It's recognized as a performance branding.

I'm just so weary of all this "ultimate Camaro" business.
Those of us old enough to live through the first three and a half generations of Camaro knew which one was regarded as the street and track brawler. Suddenly the last half of the current generation attempts to rewrite history. That's pushing alot of water uphill for those of us that were there.
A quote from the 2002 Camaro brochure: "Today, the ultimate Camaro is still the SS Convertible".
Nice car...but, "still the ultimate"?
Certainly the ultimate as far as MSRP and profit margin, I guess.
I'd like to see a place for a future Camaro SS model....I'm just not sure if I trust Chevy to do the right thing with it.

SUPRA UPDATE:
We have been assuming that the Supra would have a 3.5l V6 base model and a turbo 3.5 top end model.
The top end model may end up being a 350 horse V8, based off of the smooth and powerful 4.3l Lexus V8.
And a 3.5l V6 with about 285 hp would be standard.

I think the next V6 Camaro should be able to hang with the I6 supra and new RX8. Lets face it, if the new car (F5) weighs the same as the F4, then we are going to need more power. the new Altima and Accord have 240HP V6's and the Acura RSX type-S will be 220HP by then. We can't be losing races to these types of cars!!!!
