I know, it's so stupid, I think. There are so many hallowed Corvette monikers to use, namely ZL1. Or how about ZR1 or Stingray?

I wonder if the Corvette will share SS emblems with Malibu?

Why not? It shares a steering wheel with it.

Except that that MALIBU get the duplicate radio controls, and CORVETTE does not...

Isn't the Vette wheel smaller in Diameter? or is that just on the Z06?

Nah... they are the same wheel...

What you are thinking of is that the new wheel on the 2006 Corvette (the Corprate Parts Bin one shown above) is smaller in diameter than the original C6 wheel used on the 2005 model...

Re: New Corvette SS?

Here's a vote to call it ZR1. The boring and overused SS name is a joke these days, and it was mostly back in the day also. (except for very few select models) Not only would calling it SS not be correct to the car, (like 4th Gens) it would associate it with all the other Chevy nonsenSSe's. It would bring down the Z06's image and next Gen Z28's once again also. Z names for top Chevrolet performance cars GM, think here.

Re: New Corvette SS?

My vote?

Corvette (base) - LS2 400hp
Corvette SS - ? LS7? LS8? 450-500hp
Corvette Z06 - LS9 600+hp

Although, given the amount of buyers for the vette, this many combos may not be a good thing.

Re: New Corvette SS?

My vote: No Corvette SS

Corvette XHP
Corvette Z06/ZR1/ZL1 (X+100)HP

You already have the coupe, the convertible, and some high performance track variant. Why expand the Corvette line with some great hierarchy of performance vehicles from 40-100,000? Couldn't they put that development money into Pontiac or Buick or even other Chevy cars and receive a greater benefit?

*shakes head*

OK.....

Listen up.

Another stolen document.

*counts to 10*

*does deep breathing exercises*

No Corvette SS nameplate.

Period.

Z06 way back in 1998 was referred to as "SS" for internal purposes only.

I agree that the SS emblem does not belong on a Corvette. That said, I also believe people are rewriting history when they complain that we're putting the SS emblem on vehicles that do not deserve the nameplate. You can disagree with me all you want, but I'll swamp you with FACTS to prove it.

(sorry all.....been a rough week and I have been in a bad mood for most of it and you know why.........)

Now........question:

Where DID the SS moniker come from?

Anyone????

meanwhile......stop fuelling the rumors.

well, that's what the person (who shall go nameless for now) said when asked if the car he was driving was a 'sports car.'

The questions are: What was the car...what was the year....and who was driving it?
