Buick expanding lineup to six models in two years
During our preview this morning of upcoming products from both Buick and GMC, we learned that the Buick lineup will expand its lineup to include six models within the next 24 months. Joining the LaCrosse and Enclave (it sounds like the Lucerne is on its way out) will be two new sedans and two new crossovers.
One new four-door will be a mid-size sedan based on the Opel Insignia and possibly wear the Regal nameplate. The other will be a smaller, entry level compact sedan based on the new Opel Astra. We also saw a teaser last week of the new compact crossover for Buick that's basically a rebadged Saturn Vue. An even smaller CUV based on the Delta platform will also be added.
Over at GMC, a Denali version of the Acadia will likely be added along with another small CUV that could be a competitor for the upcoming mini countryman.

General Motors says that it's learned a lot since the Chevy Volt concept was introduced a few years back. Paramount among these new revelations is that not all green vehicles are created equally, and not all customers looking for an eco-friendly ride really want the same thing. Some may want a full-fledged automobile with all the trimmings that just happens to get great fuel mileage while some more hardcore greenies may be willing to give up the finer things in life in exchange for the ultimate in efficiency.
With that in mind, GM created a new Eco Initiative Project with the goal of understanding what eco-minded consumers really want. The first two designs – the Bare Necessities Truck and the Bare Necessities Car – look to strip the automobile down to just its essential bits, i.e. the bare necessities. Your feedback is requested. What do you think about these two concepts?
We'll throw a vote in for the Bare Necessities Truck, which takes the idea behind the Chevy Avalanche and reduces it down to a smaller, more efficient package. Make it fuel efficient (turbodiesel please) and we think GM may have a winner on its hands. Click past the break for a series of videos explaining the Eco Initiative and the two new Bare Necessities concept vehicles.

Wow... Talk about full of errors.
Does MT even read the blogs (that they snipe their "exclusives" from) anymore or do they just write random crap down?
The Left Lane article seems more accurate, but fails to mention the Regal and possible (based on the Twitters) Riviera.
I'm still very nervous about Cadillac only offering 3 sedans and about the XTS coming off of Epsilon (even if it will have the rumored V8) Boo/hiss on the CTS-V wagon not making it... And what of the Converj?
I'm also on the fence about the new Malibu... The current car is very handsome and I'm afraid that the new car will be too Korean-blob (like the Cruze)
So, the Orlando will be bigger than the Equinox, looks similar, yet be cheaper? Why do we need this again? Why not a new HHR instead?
Boo/hiss again on not offering a 3 door Aveo.
I'm also very scared that GMC will be forgotten about now that the emphasis is on cars. IMO, GMC was GMs best brand before the Ch 11 filing (It made money and appealed to non-GM customers) let us pray that GM doesn't act dumb and squander the opportunity.
It has been reported that the new GMC model will battle the new Mini Countryman. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, IMO.

Orlando is the new HHR, they just are not calling it HHR and probably will not call it Orlando.

Having a low bed loading height will be a HUGE bonus. This spec is probably the most underrated. (IRS?)
Oh, and make sure you can safely fit a baby seat in the back.

It will be delta based just like the HHR, but I suspect it will be a few inches longer. Think Mazda 5 sized which is just a little bigger than the HHR. The 3rd row will be for kids.
