Post Not The Last Year of Camaro

I was at the dealer yesterday asking about the next camaro, and they said that there coming out with a new look in 2005, mostly likely the won't look like a family car (which is good) he said it might look like the older camaros (67 - 70) which i find pretty cool, i don't know anything about the motors in the new camaros, but i think there gonna be pretty sweet, i hope they bring back the 427,

Sounds like everyone's got their own opinion of what GM will or won't do. At this point, I'd take everything you hear with a grain of salt. It seems silly that GM would let a name like "Camaro" sit on the shelf for too long... but it's hard to imagine that they would also bring back the Firebird while having the GTO in their stable, too.

nobody knows anything outside of GM.. I have a sneaking suspicioun even people in GM don't know what to do with the "Camaro" name/line.

Maybe a few years wait will do some good.. Figure out how to design/engineer/manufacture/market a better product.. maybe the neg connotations associated with "Camaro" will disappear too in the clueless majority of the public.

I garuntee there will be no 427, most likely the ls1 or ls6, or rendition of it. mike

I would have to agree with that... GM will put an engine in it that is already being used by something else. If the C6 Vette gets a new engine, then maybe the 5th gen f-body would get it too...

The C6 is getting a new engine, suposedly. Heard about a few but the one that caught my attention was the 6.0 liter DOHC, suck on that ford, with your 4.6 :P . But who knows, guess we'll find out later.

The one hope we have that the Camaro will be a show stopper is Mr. Lutz. They finally a real car guy in charge.Everyone has an opinion, so here is mine.
The next Camaro should be V-8 and RWD, obviously. It should be a tribute to the first generation, but not an overpriced overhyped status symbol like the new Thunderbird. The have to make this thing fast, really fast. Perhaps an upgraded on next-gen LS1. The SS will need an LS6 to keep up with the Cobra. That is a must. And they definitly have to do something about quality. We'll have to wait until 2005.

i think they should give it the 1st gen look also, i love the 1st gen look, its probabaly gonna be fiber glass though with a steal frame, still thats great!! I Would like to be a 6.0 in a Camaro.. isn't that a 400ci ? or try to make a fuel injection of the old 427 or even bring back the 454 motor, now those are sweet *** motors. I hope that GM doesn't go ***** and have 5.3 liters in it like in the new Silverado and the Avalanche, that would suck.

A 6.0 liter is roughly 370 cubic inches. The old TAs were 6.6's. That was a 400. That might be what you were thinking of there. Most car freeks know what GM should do with the 5th gen FBody. Hopefully Lutz will live up to his reputation and do it right.

Here's a little bit of advice: never believe anything a dealer tells you. They have a hard enough time knowing about the models on their showroom floor, let alone the top-secret future plans of the manufacturer. Believe me, the people on this board will know about the next Camaro *long* before any salesman at a dealer.
