Nice looking cop car. I've yet to see a 2006 Impala police cars. My town uses Impalas and so does NYC.

We have black on black ones around here, black tinted windows, they look pretty damn badass! The only reason I know is I got pulled over by one onthe way to work a few days ago.

 

I hate being pulled over by cops, but I could make an exception for that one.

 

We've gotten our first batch of '06 Impala 9C1s in, they were being striped up today. We have had them for at for a while now, its taken a while to get some of the equipment in for them since some of the aftermarket manufactures didn't make any equipment for them yet.

Its really ashame that the 9C1 doesn't have the LS4 option, it could really use the power and the fuel economy of the V8, hopefully that will change for '07. The '06 9C1 for some reason is rated at 25 mpg highway vs. 27 mpg hwy in the civilian 3.9L equipped Impalas, why the difference I don't know.

We switched to Impalas in late 2004 with 2005 models because for all of the problems that we were having with our Crown Vics.

 

Had a cooling issue with using the LS4 is what I heard. So the 3.9L had to be used. I think they were working on the solution so the 07's 9c1 could have the LS4.

 

Correct, I was told that '07 should be a go for the LS4, but that was a while back and I don't know if things have changed since.

 

Our Highway Patrol has one of those. It says Hemi in big letters on the side

 

It's for the New York Auto Show....... NYPD display I believe.

Though New York is going with Chargers (about 12 to start with if i remember), I don't think the chrome grille is part of the package. The fog lights, and polished alumunum rims are an option that I don't think you'll see on real rim bending, curb and pothole jumping Charger police cars.

Stll, this NYPD car is optioned the way I'd expect the Cali Highway Patrol cars will be...... Yes, CHP has them under serious consideration.

 

The Impala police car is not in the same league as that Charger police car. Props to Mopar.
