Anyone that thinks 638hp isn't enough for a production street car, needs to have their head examined.

Ha! Even if that were practical, when's the last time you saw a micro with ~2MB of onboard OTP ROM?

Seriously, though, I imagine that there will be some great difficulty in tuning this vehicle. It's not a hundred kB of tables and a couple simple algorithms running on a Motorola HC08 derivative anymore.

Not until the Vette goes electric (2025?) and they can put electric motors at each wheel.

The factory manifold is already effectively a shorty header and flows very well. A lot of C6 guys are buying Z06 take off exhausts and making big gains.
I thought I remembered reading that Z06 owners were getting big gains from just switching out exhaust components, like a jump from 505 to 550+

I could see it happening some day...Sure the old wrinkly grey crowd would huff and puff just like they did over using lights that don't flip up (*GASP*), but the Corvette is first and foremost designed to be a terrific performer at a very affordable price. If AWD can give it significant performance gains and not increase price, I'd be all for it.

Iffin I was rich, and wanted to take one of these things drag racing, the only thing I wouldn't like about the motor is this...

...
Horsepower / kW: 638 / 476 @ 6500 rpm
Fuel shut-off (rpm): 6600
....
Sure hope the HP curve is flat.

I noticed that also. It just proves that GM has left plenty on the table.

Unfortunately just the opposite is true. C5 Z's saw decent gains but GM engineers did a good job with the exhaust on the C6 Z.
