Reuss deniesCamaro.......!!!!
Mark Reuss in a letter to the editor at Automotive News, denies his previuos comments that they are looking for a replacement for Camaro.
What does this mean? Who knows?
.....and who knows what sort of BS Mark Reuss needds to be dealing with behind the scenes on this.

Someone from the Canadian assembly plant probably heard of or read his comment about the Camaro, and started some crap. If Reuss did in fact say they were looking for a rwd platform for the Camaro..I'll bet he was telling the truth.

news like this are the ones that have me so interested on a 350Z
I will keep my LT1 forever but I think I will never buy again a GM brand car
They really, really let US Down, Really since 1998 The LS1 was great but from that point on the just do:
A great over 35K SSR, limited #s
Cavalier
Sunfire so ugly
Vibes, Aztek
Put some stickers to have a GTO
make a 35 aniv,Camaro and Bird WHIT THE SAME HP basically of a 2000 SS
Impala FWD, that is great
Put a SC to a FWD impala
Malibu,, so close from what they were in the past
took the F body away
They don't have performance parts for our cars, and I think the are still thinking abaut having them
Even FORD is more loyal to their customers that apreciatte V8's
Man, if they don't even know what will happen or simply don't what to tell if a new RWD with some HP will come out for a modes budget,
THEY CAN STICK A NEW CAMARO TO THEIRS A$$ES
MAN LIKE 3 YEARS AND STILL HERE WAITING FOR SOME NICE NEWS, 35 YEARS DON"T mean anything to them
EVEN THE NEWS OF THE INTERIOR OF THE NEW MUSTANG ARE MORE POSITIVE

Well, I gotta figure if he said it the first time, than there is stuff actively going on, and he slipped and wasn't supposed to say anything yet...
I can't imagine him saying that in a speech and then just saying "nope. Never happened."
Do we have a link or anything to this letter?

Yeah, I am with some of the others on this. I think what he said about the Camaro before was true and now he is trying to back-track because he shouldn't have said anything. This doesn't worry me at all.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Camaro, Firebird very much alive
By MARK L. REUSS, Executive Director, Architectural Engineering and GM Performance Division, General Motors, Detroit
July 29, 2002
To the Editor:
It was good to see the piece on our new Performance Division in your July 15 issue ("GM wants to push high performance").
While most of the story was accurate, I would like to state that I did not say GM is looking to replace, nor is there any plan to replace the Camaro and Firebird.
What I did say was that we are looking at low-cost, rear-wheel-drive platforms for future products. These do not include Camaro and Firebird replacements.
I even stated that I did not want to be quoted as announcing plans for a replacement of Camaro/Firebird.

sometimes I really believe GM will be out of business within 20 years or so, and when people look back in puzzlement to identify "the beginning of the end", they will find that it was with the death of their affordable RWD V8's sports cars, which is right now. The GTO will sell out its low numbers but it won't be the last-resort miracle worker some GM people are hoping for, and the Vette is not perpetually immune to stupidity at GM so I wouldn't be surprised to see it fall later on too. I'll stick with my third gens.. till I die.
