Wow, that was a fast release. Are these #'s "artificially high" because of the small slump after C4C or would that have been last month?
The good news is that month to month (consecutive months) sales seems to have stabilized no matter how they compare to the same month the year before.

To answer your question, yes, these numbers are artificially high because of the slump last year. I think GM was actually down a few percent compared to August. However, we are talking only a few percent and I do tend to agree that sales have stabilized.......atleast for now.

No offense, but the anecdotal evidence about this or that Camaro languishing on a showroom floor, that I have seen you use multiple times now, is about as worthless as downplaying Mustang sales numbers, which seems to be what makes you bristle.
I agree with Guy here, Camaro is a bit more unique and stands out more and that is what is propelling its sales. It will be interesting to see if or how much further ahead Camaro pulls next year when the convertible is available.

When you live in a small community, it is very easy to see what is selling. Here, GM trucks sell good, the cars, not so much.
Yes, the Camaro is outselling the Mustang, and that is a good thing............. for both.

Do tell. It was not a good thing for Camaro when Mustang was outselling it. By all accounts, the Mustang is a great car all around, so the competition improves the breed argument isn't even that good of one.......

Yeah, that's really the bottom line. If Camaro even sells in comparable numbers to Mustang I'm fine with it. What I'm not fine with are the current driving dynamic comparisons floating around.

Well maybe the Mustang is a bit long in the tooth then and its time to reivent the wheel. How many times do you hear; "I like the performance, but I wont buy one because I'd see myself on every corner".

It seems that the market has already chosen the Camaro over the Mustang since it returned by total sales. The only question was if Fords 2010 refreshing of the design or the 2011 upgraded engine lineup would move the sales lead back to Ford. That hasn't happened.
Just another lesson that more HP doesn't move the sales needles. Although I think we knew that from the 4th Gens.

So the question boils down to why? the 2011 Mustangs gennerally get the nod in dynamics, build quailty, and livability as well as the interior generally being regarded better. The Camaro is generally considered the better looking car and I suppose it gets the nod for having more standard options. As for performance (the tangible stuff that can be measured) they are pretty much even.
