Do you have any idea what other auto shows will get the concept? In particular Cleveland?
or Philadelphia

Eerrr....best left to another place and another time.

The sneak peek will occur as the the concept is unveiled to the press (and the world)
I've got friends in low places....working on being there (via a totally unrelated avenue).

At one time, there was a 'poor unfortunate' that actually said we should look at Delta platform...........I'm not so sure he's ever been seen since. (but the fish in one of the lakes within the Tech Center seem to look 'well fed')

I gotta tell you.....I think 90% of those who see the concept IN PERSON will like it....I'm also wise enough to know that no matter what the car looks like, we will have people who do not like it...and we will have a few that explode on the internet and say horrible things...... .by the way....the concept will be at NAIAS for the entire run.....it will also appear in other cities during the auto show season........so please......before you feel the need to blast it to pieces.......please see it in person first?

You can be assured that GM will be asking for feedback.

One other thing: I really need to think about changing my name from "Fbodfather" to "The Guardian".....because people, I haven't designed this car.....I've attended meetings...I've given a lot of input.....I've been screaming since 1996 that we need a new Camaro........and I will continue to have my fingers in it one way or another. But I should NEVER be considered 'the father' of this car ...or any other Fcar. There are people who deserve that title ......and I don't.

(by the way....the name was given to me by the Hudson Valley Fcar Club)

thanks for coming in and letting us know the real deal. it's comforting to hear that the people that worked on the "concept" are enthusiasts that have a passion for the name and the legacy of the car.

and as far as the name, as far as alot of us "enthusiasts" are concerned, the name fits you just fine because of how dedicated of an "enthusiast" you have been to our beloved car for so many years.

This is certainly true of a number of recent GM designs. There are quite a few cars that are not very photogenic that are gorgeous in person. The C6 has a few awkward proportions in pictures, but in person, you just don't see them. Even the Impala we have coming looks somewhat frumpy in pix, but very nice in person. I wouldn't call it gorgeous, but it is what I would call stealthy elegant. It's a look that doesn't get conveyed in pictures.

This has me worried.

I'm well aware that a 2D picture of a 3-dimensional object by its very nature can't show off all of its subtlety and attention to detail. But when you seem so insistent that we must see it in person before we judge it, it almost seems as if you're preparing us for being disappointed by the pictures and apologizing for it in advance.

Beautiful designs should still shine through in 2D. You can't hide basic truths. Cars like the Solstice, Sky, or CTS all looked gorgeous in pictures, and look gorgeous in person. I don't recall anyone who thought those cars missed the mark in pictures but then did a 180 when they saw them in person. Likewise, cars like the C6, Impala, or MC that looked disappointing in pictures didn't improve appreciably in the flesh. I'm beginning to fear the F5 is going to fall into the latter category

I think your looking a little too much into that statement

.....then again . Maybe after reading all the negativity generated on this board when it comes to opinions on GM design , he felt compelled to defend it before its even out .....just kidding , errrrrr...kind of

I have the same sentiment. I just haven't seen anything out of GM in the last 15 years - maybe longer - that has blown me away styling wise (though, the C6 Z06 comes close - so I disagree with you on that one). Sure, they have lots of "decent" looking cars, but nothing mind blowing, and even most of the "decent" cars have awkward features here and there.

I'll tell you this... most cars considered "classics" look good in pictures and real life.

What is the perfectly designed car? Even the 69 Camaro has a very un-sporty interior, much less so than then 67-68's.

To each his own I guess, but SOME cars will make you do a 180. Then again, some don't. We shall see soon enough, but I can't seriously believe that they would miss the styling on this of all cars.

Very true!

I'm curious to know just how many GM execs / people "in the know" / designers actually tune-in to our site, or any other public forum like this? I can't believe that they HAVEN'T, and so long as they HAVE, then how could so much valuable information and strong ideas / opinions go ignored or un-answered come time to unveil the new Camaro??

Problem is, like what has been acknowledged already about the loyalists from all 4 generations of Camaro, we could have the same problem there's been every time the Corvette is redesigned. I read quite a few mag's and forums when the C6 was released earlier this year, and there were A LOT of mixed feelings about its styling ... in particular the change to exposed headlights. Some long-time, die-hard 'Vette enthusiasts were absolutely appalled by the C6, while others were drooling all over it. I'm sure the same thing will likely happen with the Camaro. I'm one who's NOT opposed to a "retro" style. I actually "like" the new Mustang!! (sorry guys )

Someone else mentioned just how critical we all can be of GM, due to their long history in the auto business and the number of stunning cars they've produced over the years. But it's like in any business ... how many times can you "new & improve" something that's been "new & improved" time and time again?! I guess really what it comes down to is, I think we have to be willing to accept whatever the designers have concluded as their best effort at creating a new Camaro, with consideration to the masses of enthusiasts like us and to "the rest of the world" who don't really "care" so much about CAMARO, but just want to see a cool new car on the road.

I can't wait 'til NAIAS!

you should not be worried at all. I'm just stating a fact that many.....and I do mean many.....people will look at a picture of a new car or truck and perhaps have a lukewarm reception. I say this because the day we took the wraps off the 35th Anny Camaro at Carlisle, everyone seemed to like it. (except one woman who was certain that we'd redo it as a 1969 Camaro.......) (???)
I was elated at the end of the day..........and people kept saying ...'wish it had the LS6...but where do I sign'.......went back to the hotel room and was promptly slaughtered........

Now......don't read into that last part.

I just think that most are going to be very very pleased.........we'll know for sure on the 9th.......

This was the very case about the Enzo Ferrari. Tiff Needell points it out at the beginning of this video.

I believe NAIAS marks the beginning of the Auto Show circuit so the "concept" will show up everyone's show next year. Guess I'll have to stick to pictures.

I'd really like for it to be a COLOR, not silver. Sorry to anybody who really likes silver, but when they rolled out the new Z06 at last year's show and it was silver, it just doesn't have the same jaw-dropping effect that a bold color like yellow or red (or blue or, dare I say, black?) has. JMO anyway. Although the Solstice was primarily displayed in silver throughout most of its concept days and it looked quite appealing, but the Solstice doesn't have the aggressive "in your face" look that a Camaro should have.
