TRUNK I don't put too much in the back for fear of scratching the hell out interior panels plus everone can see what's in the back. The well doesn't hold much stuff either and the surfaces are irregular.
A trunk is usually rectangular, you can't see in it, and the back seat would probably fold down too which would allow you to store even more stuff. You don't have to worry about tearing up your interior either.

I don´t mind that the shocks can´t lift it as long as can keep it up..
When I take the car to the strip, I put the slicks in, gas jug, tools, an extra full size tire, jack, cooler box, helmet, I don´t think all this will fit in a trunk..

Definitely hatch. Not only does it provide a sleek look, it is very practical.
Where else would i be able to put my mountain bike without taking the wheel off? I put the seats down, and there is a large cargo area for stuff like bikes.
Also, when I bought Z06 replica rims for my Z, all four boxes fit nicely in through the back. Try putting something large and heavy into the back seat of a coupe.
As for structure rigidity, just get an aftermarket company to manufacture a rear brace (liek the front strut brace, but for the rear).

Actually I wasn't joking. Just because someone can't afford two cars, or can't afford an performance SUV, doesn't justify screwing it up for everyone else.

Gotta say trunk. I can't picture a hatchback convertible.
I like the idea of the structural integrity and noise control a trunk would offer the coupe.
Sounds like a 5th gen based Nomad is the ticket for the 1 car crowd here.

I like all the responses about "one time i picked up a roll of flooring" or "when i moved..."
You're talking about isolated incidents there guys. If you need to pick up a roll of tile or move a bed, call a friend with a pick-up truck or go down to u-haul and rent one locally. Unless you pick up flooring and move beds on a weekly basis, you'll make out OK. And if you do need to move big **** on a regular basis, i guess you need a truck
Also funny is the "i can put my mounatin bike in there" Whoopty ****ing doo. I can put my mountain bike on a rack on the back of my GTO. And i'm not ripping up my carpets and interior panels and tracking dirt into my car when i do so.
As for taking it to the track, a nice trunk with fold down seats should easily fit a pair of tires in it. Oh yeah, and in this scenario the tires are much lower in the car so when you slam on the brakes they don't fly off the deck over the gas tank and hit you in the head.

Hands down trunk . I Love my Camaro , but I want a fresh non hatch design as my next new Camaro .
Like I said in another thread , GM has been very creative at configurable designs here lately . Be original(err not really since this has already been done) and make the car look like a trunk car , but have the decklid open with the rear window like a hatch . Maybe have the rear shelf fold up with it all too , it make it removeable completely when needed . Have the rear seatbacks fold flat . So you could still have the utility of a hatch but only when needed . Otherwise it would be just normal sealed trunk , and from the outside it would always look liek a trunk car .

As for your tires, in case you didn't know, tirerack will ship directly to dealers and installers. If for some reason that won't work for you, would 2 trips back and forth to get all the tires to the shop be THAT big of a deal. Not really, but i bet you thought it sounded like a good reason.
Don't rolleyes at me just because you aren't a very good problem solver.

Sheesh, all I said is that having owned Camaro hatchback, I really like it. The design is a big thing for me, but I was also thoroughly impressed with the cargo abilities. No, I dont put my bike in there every day, but often enough that having to take the front wheel off is more of a PITA. My carpets were in mint condition when I sold the Z. Having a bike rack on a car like Camaro/GTO?
