Question What about a CTS coupe & convertible?

With the F-bod on hiatus, the Corvette is the only convertible (excluding SAAB) that I can think of in the GM stable.

Would it not be logical for GM to do a coupe and convertible version of the CTS?

Assuming (and hoping) that the Gen 5 will be on the Sigma platform they could share the engineering

J-body can still be had in a convertible I believe, the SSR (if still on) is a convertible as well.

Thumbs up

I would LOVE to see a CTS Coupe and Convertable after thaty.

The coupe (assued to be called CTC) and eventually the vert, would really take CTS/CTC right there side by side with BMW's 3-series. The CTSi would match or beat the M3 to boot.

It really is the perfect oppourtunity to woo away some BMW buyers, If GM does it...

That being said, I think CTS is too far up the lader in pricing to be looked at as a Camaro alternative for most Camaro buyers...

Question

Well isn't the caddy XLR going to be a vert and hitting the streets next year?

Yes, the XLR comes out soon, but it is in the $60k+ price range... I'd think the expanded CTS lin ecould hit in the $30-$40k range...

I wouldn't exactly dismiss the posibility within the next 5 years. Cadillac's general manager mentioned that the Eldorado name would be back someday. Sound familiar?

I think the CTS would be alot better looking if they just made it a tad wider with a tad more wider tire to it.. and stuffed a LS6 in it too.

btw, i've read reports/rumors that they will be releasing a ls6 ver of the CTS?

J-body verts are history- maybe a year ago?
Good ridance! Almost 9 years old and showing!

As for CTS convert- I don't think so. One reason why the XLR is on a Vette platform is
the C5/C6 was designed intially as a convertible.

As opposed to a car thats designed as a coupe then they have to do more engeniering to make a proper convertible. Just a theory....

'vette, XLR, SSR ... all 2 seaters ... most of the competition offers some form of a 4 seater convertible .... why would GM ignore this market?

If the next Camaro is in fact on Sigma, I would certainly hope it will be available in T-top coupe and convertible.
