Thumbs up What if Camaro's not going Sigma but...

instead uses the Corvette's/XLR platform.

Check out this quote from www.acarplace.com/brands/gm/platforms.html
GM-Y: (RWD coupe): Chevy Corvette. Cadillac Evoq roadster from this. May be new Camaro platform as well.

Interesting idea!

I don't think a new Camaro would be built at Bowling Green.

Could be wrong though.

I guarantee this will never happen.

Ever.

I will eat my shoes if it does.

I'd doubt that Camaro would ever be based off of Y-car....but don't think that it has never been discussed.

Oh, I have no doubt that the idea has been discussed, but it will never, ever become a reality... it just doesn't make sense at all...

All that does is cheapen the Corvette name. No a flame on Camaro, I love it with a passion, but that doesn't change the truth.

If that were to happen, the next Camaro Z28 would be priced in the $40K+ range.

No thank you.

GM needs to be more economical just as Furd was with the Moostang.

It's too expensive, already been looked at, and also I thought I once read that on the Corvette itself, it cannot have rear seats because of the way the fame is. Something about the driveshaft, I forget what. So that automatically throws it out for a Camaro replacement since Camaro has always been a 2+2 car.

I think it's full of old & outdated information.

We know the Y-body was studied for Firebird a few years ago (I think Branden checked that out), it still refers to the Cadillac Catera, which no longer exists, the new Malibu & Grand Am will share chassis with vehicles outside the US, there's no mention of Monaro, the "W" version of the Monte Carlo replacement was cancelled, & the description of the 2800/VSP is the current V car, not the replacement.

Where's the Evoke & the CTS, STS, & crossover sigma based cars??

Latest word I've heard is that the Commodore/Monaro will not get Sigma, but will get a new Budget Global RWD platform to be created from the existing V-Car design. Camaro/Firebird have been mentioned in connection with this platform, but it is only rampant speculation at this time ...

Gee, I posted that here about a month ago, after I went through just about everyone I knew and redplanet came in and attempted to say my information was wrong, just like he did when I said a version of the Holden was going to be imported to the US last winter.

Maybe I occasionally do know what I'm talking about.....just maybe?

It's funny, but I don't read the 5th gen forum much anymore, but when I do, it seems like this thing about the Holden coming over gets brought up. Maybe it just gets brought up a lot, but I was right there with you guionM. I had a post around the same timeframe you did basically asking why the Holden wasn't even being considered to be brought over. I was actually ridiculed at the time, by many in general, and by RP in particular. This is fine, I was just asking, but it does give me a little satisfaction knowing that a Holden will be here soon.

I'm sure I'll be lambasted for "flaming" RP again too, just like I was when I brought it up the last time.
