Thumbs down Feedback for seller RuSSty

I hate to do this, but I haven't heard back from him. I bought a cam from him that was listed in this thread: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=437968

He was eager to complete the sale and he did ship it in a reasonable timeframe. However, the cam is not what I expected. Several of the lobes are pitted badly and there are gouges in several ramps where it appears the rollers bounced over the nose and the landed on the reverse side. All of the bearing surfaces have significant grooving that can plainly be felt with a fingernail. It also appears to have had some surface rust at one time that was polished out.

It's possible he didn't know that it was garbage when he sent it, but the damage is clear and obvious by a cursory glance. There is no way I'm jeopardizing my new motor with this cam. I sent a PM yesterday and didn't hear back so I'm posting this thread. I'll update it if I hear from the seller. It could very well be a misunderstanding but I've had VERY bad luck buying on this board so I'm assuming the worst.

FWIW, I filed a complaint with paypal but they automatically dismissed it because I received a package. So much for protecting the buyer

Hope everything works out for you. It seems he has a good reputation with a few people judging by the link you posted so hopefully he will see this and make things right. No sense in ruining your reputation on the board for something like that.

Thumbs up Re: Feedback for seller RuSSty

I sure hope you're right. He did seem honest and has had some good transactions on this board. As an ebay seller, I know that honest mistakes are made from time to time. If this is an honest mistake I'm sure he'll agree to give me a refund on receipt of the part.

I really hate to make this thread but I've been screwed so many times on this board it's disgusting.

With a little luck this one will end ok.

Re: Feedback for seller RuSSty

My very first transaction on the board turned out to be a scam (ZAddiction27=dishonest individual) so I know how frustrating it can be. Every other transaction though has went very smoothly.
On a side note, if anyone sees ZAddiction27, tell him 2000GTP hasn't forgotten and he wants his damn oil pan.

nosfed replied back to you about 2 times now, regarding this sale i made it clear to nosfed that at whatever time he needed or anyone else at that needed pics they would be sent.he choose not to this cam was listed as USED... i at no time forced the sale of this cam upon him as seen in this thread i had plenty of peolpe interested in it. he was just the one person who got the deal.

Re: Feedback for seller RuSSty

this cam was checked by a local buddy who owns a nearby shop (past 40 years) in miami but he had seen the cam before was sent out to cut front pin to .620 exact length pin was to long in the 1st place, i had asked him about 1 LOBE that showed normal wear it he had told me that it was well within parameters to run in my built bottom y-body motor, i paid for polish and pin cut $50...this cam retails from combination motorsports for $250 i sold for $155 shipped $10 to ship $145 nosfed got the cam for most people sell used cams on this board for $175 or more this is also custom grind...

nosfed tells me in on PM i had to have messed up the lifter and must have not been running the appropriate valve springs...

i was running ls1 beehives good for well over .620 lift this cam is no where near that even on 1.6's..

i dont see why i have to be held accountable for nosfed not inquiring more about what he was buying. i am not running from this he posted this thread now and i am on it like white on rice...

You should be held accountable if any damage or wear to the cam was not mentioned in your post. "this cam was run for not even 5,000" sure makes it sound like a very good condition cam. I got my cc305 cam on here for $100 plus shipping, and got exactly what I expected, a good used cam with no abnormal damage or wear. This is usually a given, if you were 100% upfront with nosfed from the beginning, you wouldnt be in this situation now, and this post wouldnt exist! Period.

I just read that thread, and i gotta say Rusty, that was pretty deceptive. You certainly made it out to be a cam that was in good shape.

Re: Feedback for seller RuSSty

why dont we do this post pics of cam wear if it is so bad and since you say its every lobe i want a pic of all 16 lobes and show me the wear, also on the cam journals also..

listen guys it like buying a homeless dude food, i bought it for him i am not goingto feed it to him also..

i posted a cam for sale that was USED,,i cannot go and hassle everybody WHO DOES NOT ASK 4 pics, and them to think that the product is new....cause its not its a used piece.

i just got a meziere elec water pump and when you turn it rubs slightly, fixed it myself got a $225 pump for $85 shipped did i choose to ask for pics on pump no this is what i got sent i am happy with itcause it still works.

that cam is still in good condition and can be used still, now how do i know if you send me my right cam back with all the cam knowledge you know and wont send me something as you described cause what i sold to you WAS NOT in those conditions UNLESS cam was switched or scored after being in your possesion.

I was fast courteous and prompt with this deal and was very clear in the many PM's me and NOSFED exchanged i even provided him with more detailed specs within an instant.

i can not be held liable for someone elses failure to ask for detailed pics of a USED item. let me see if i am right here mostly 99.9% of the time USED items are sold AS-IS did in any part of the ad did i say it was NEW....so now normal wear one sees on a used cam and he doesnt like he wants to send back.

this is the # 1 reason it gets harder and harder to sell parts CAUSE TO MANY PEOPLE EXPECT THE WORLD FROM USED PARTS...

if you built a new motor why not run a new custom cam for that set-up.dont tell me every used cam that has been sold is always - BRAND NEWthen cams would always be worth what they are new....
you did run an engine shop in kansas you said why risk the use of acam u did not know about and that you wanted to try out as you stated in thread, why not buy a NEW cam, i could understand if you are running a stock bottom w/ a refreshen up top but why try something used in a motor fully built.....wheres the logic..

and this is not your eveyday common CC305,it was a custom ground combination motorsports cam.

anymore...

Re: Feedback for seller RuSSty

I would have to agree. If your concerned, you need to ask for detailed pics. I received 4 pics of one rocker just to make sure it was correct before sending money... that was my decision. If your running a new motor... get a new cam... simple as that... no point in taking shortcuts.

Re: Feedback for seller RuSSty

If I was going to sell a part, and I didnt post the pics of it for everyone to see, I would have at least gave a detailed typed out description of exactly how "used" it was.

Maybe for you it was fine to use in your motor. I personally would not use a cam with anywhere near the kind of where he is speaking of.

If it is as bad as he says it is, the cam should be in the garbage. Not in a motor.

And if it is as bad as he makes it out to be, then thats just a dick move on your part.

I...
Sorry...... but that is a typical statement made by most every shady seller who wants to divert the attention away from themselves. I've seen it enough times when the seller doesn't disclose the true condition of a part and then tries to claim that the buyer has switched the parts. BS, plain and simple. A good used cam should shine nicely and not contain any damage. If it has to be repaired it is not considered "good". A correct wear pattern is very evident.
