Obviously a broken ring and pinion is a little different from a console. That wouldn't be a "steel" it would be a "steal" Your assumptions are as bad as your spelling if you think I advocate getting ripped off.

My point was how much is the ashtray lid from a dealership? I am no expert on that style console (I own a 93 and a 94), but can't you put another ashtray lid on that piece? If so he would have a pefectly fine part, for still way under the cost of a brand new entire gear selector from a dealership or even used on this board. So his life is not officially over yet. I agree with the original poster that what happend is not right. Just trying to put some sort of positive spin on it.

 

I took the pictures on the same day and E-mailed them yo you. you said you did not recieve them. They are dated in my camera as the same day I told you they were broken. Its convenient that you did not get them the first time. Also convenient that you're friend documented the whole shipping process.

Without taking any sides I'd just suggest that everybody chalks this one up as a lesson learned. Posting the issue here will NOT get you a single penny back. It brings the issue at hand known to others, but that's it.

Ya so then every time JnJ sells something people can just break a little piece of it and cry that he shipped it that way and he should give them their money back and still let them keep the still usable parts. I'm sure he will stay in business a long time that way.

The fact remains the parts left here perfectly fine and JnJ offered to refund the price of the parts minus the shipping (what company refunds shipping??) if he sent the part back because that centerconsole is still perfectly usable.

Oh and so you know
part number 10271366 ---ashtray lid $10 from gmpartsdirect
part number 10413138 ---- upper centerconsole piece $54 from gmpartsdirect And thats just the upper piece, that does not include the ashtray, shift gate/gear selecter, etc. So thats even more money.

You paid $15 for the f*cking thing and you are here crying like you are the one who got ripped off. Add another $10 for the ashtray lid and you are at $25, that is still less then 1/2 the price if you bought it new. I could have vary easily sold that piece for $30+, but instead i'd figure i'd give someone a break since i had no use for that at all. And you come on here badmouthing JnJ.

 

I bought the item for the price he gave me. He did not tell me I would get it broken. I bought it for a set price, I shouldnt have to invest extra money. If he had asked 45, or 50, I wouldnt have bought it.
If I didn't get ripped off who did, you're obviously implying someone other than me got ripped off.

Also, the visor was broken too. I was most angry about being lied to. I was told that the items were damaged in shipping when it was obvious they werent. Both items were in unacceptable condition when they got to my door. Also if Fedex deems that the items were improperly packaged am I to blame? Or is JnJ to blame? Wouldnt I be entitled to reimbursal?

These arguments are weak. I need a center console and a visor, Whi would I pay 35 bucks for them then break them so I could get 35 bucks back?
I'm insulted that I come here and show people what happened WITH PICTURES and I'm being blamed for the damages.

Everyone is quick to say that the items were broken in shipping, but where are the broken pieces?? they werent in the box or in the saran wrap that was wrapped around the console, as a matter of fact, the ash tray lid was not even in the correct place when I unwraped it. Many of you do not know how to exercise reason before coming to a conclusion. I'm not buying fron JnJ, but if you are willing to take the chance, be my guest. I didn't post this so I can get my money bak, I posted it so that people will know what could possibly happen if they order from him. I wish someone had posted something up like this prior to my buying from JnJ, then I wouldve known what to expect. Now potential buyers will know.

 

ok.. so he got it cheaper then what they usually go for.. that doesnt mean its ok to get broken.. the idea of shipping back is stupid and pointless.. so its ok for me to send some chrome zr1's for $400 that were in perfect shape.. and once they arrive 2 arrive dented.. and i say" hey you got a good deal anyways.. just go buy 2 more "? no he bought what he bought and they didnt arrive in the condition that he was told that they wre in its that simple.. i highly doubt that he got it.. and then dropped it and it broke the ash tray?

and i konw its only $35.. but i think its the whole principle that is bothering the buyer.. he didnt get what he bought. its that simple

 

oh and Jeeves, I notice you are a new poster. As a matter of fact, the only three posts you have made have been in this thread.. If a mod gets curious, they could look at you're ip logs and see if theyre coming from the same computer as Jnj... Interresting

I know for a fact that that was jeeves center console. Jeeves is also one of my friends and ive witnessed his a4-m6 swap and ive been in his car, the center console was in perfect condition when it was in there and the same way when it was shipped.
Of course Jeeves would come in here and defend JNJs honor and rep. Jeeves has been buying stuff from JNJ for a long time and never got shafted or screwed, hell if it werent for J his car wouldnt be what it is right now. Word gets around that JNJ is getting his rep smeared all over the internet then ur damn right other ppl that have dealt with him and never had a problem would defend him.

Hell if u can read he did say if u shipped it back he would refund ur money , just b/c he didnt mention the money for the shipping being refunded u prolly were gonna get it refunded to, most business dont charge u to send back a faulty item. Basically u gave him the shaft told him "u fu*ked up" now im smearing ur reputation on this board, so hell with u. I guess its live and learn, ur only one person and im a proud customer of J and he has many more like me. For all we know u broke that crap and blamd it on him. but who knows.
So as far as i c we have two witnesses sayin that they saw it leave in perfect condition and JNJ offered to refund ur money but u decide to post this crap , its ur problem u payed for it, so be it.

 

how do you know it left in perfect condition? did you go and check out the console before it left? i doubt that.. he could have had the ash tray lid on and it could have looked fine and might not have been.. this is my last post.. bc really i dont know whose telling the truth and whose not. i hope everything gets worked out.. you guys are right that it doesnt make sense that jnj would sendsomething out that was broken. if he has a reputation to keep.. for all i know.. tealv6 could be showing pics of his broken console and visor that he already had? and he put the good condition console and visor on? i have no way of konwing..

No im implying that you are acting like you paid top dollar for something and it arrived there broke. You got it for less then half its value and it left here perfectly fine. How is JnJ suppose to control what happens to it after it leaves his posession?

2. FedEx is a buisness and they are going to do everything they can to get out of giving people money.
3. JnJ said he would reimburse you the money for it if you sent it back. Why would he let you keep it when it is still perfectly usable? Seriously

No one said its ok that it got broken. But it was fine when it left here.
So lets use your own example. You shipped 4 rims for $400 and they left you perfectly fine and then two arrived dented. The buyer wants his money back. So you will give him the $400 back and let him keep the rims even though they are still completely usable? I dont think so.
He is acting like the thing was broken in half and a complete piece of junk. Which is completely not the case. Go look at the pictures again. The ashtray lid is broke and one little tab is broke. That center console is still 100% usable. So he should get a free part because something happened to it after it left JnJ's possesion?




Why dont you also notice my join date. I've been on here for almost a year. I own a 2000 TA so i spend my time on ls1tech and wnyfbody. I only pop on here once in a blue moon to look around and read stuff. The mods can go ahead and check all the ip logs they want. JnJ lives like a half hour away from me.

umm, lets see, it was my part that JnJ sold. I took it to him, he packed it up with the visor, then i dropped it off at Kinko's on my way home. And seeing as how it was my part JnJ told me from the first conversation about this before this thread was made. So ya he told me about this thread. Along with like 4-5 other people. And like i said before i use other boards. So im failing to see what the point of that comment was.
