The guy deserved what he got. "He knew better". Back in 1991 when I was at GM, everyone knew that pictures of development stuff was a no-no, worth instant firing. So was taking stuff home like screws and bolts, or other car parts. If you got caught with factory parts rolling around in your lunch box, you knew it meant you were done, no matter how cheap the part. That doesnt mean that no one risked it, though. That guy took a risk and he got caught. He needs to just move on and get another job.
