1984 Camaro z28 Electrical and A/C issues
I have an 84 camaro and it has several electrical issues, i was wandering if anybody has any ideas about what might cause them.
1. whenever i turn on my my dash lights the tach stops working, the oil pressure gauge goes to zero, the gas gauge goes to empty, and the right blinker light stays on (no blinking, and only in the dash display, when you turn the right blinker on it acts normal and blinks). it has the stock guage cluster
(0-85mph, and kph on the other side) it goes back to normal when you turn the dash lights off.
2. the air conditioning blows fuses, even while it is unplugged from the compressor (it has a new stock compressor), but it still automatically turns on the radiator fan when the a/c is turned on with the fuse blown. the blower works with a good fuse if it is on vent or heat, but it only blows through the windshield vents and not through any others, like when defogging the windshield.
3. the passenger side headlight is dimmer than the drivers side (low beams), they both have the same bulbs and they are both new.
I appriciate any help and ideas any of you might have.
thanks

Sounds like a trace on the back of the cluster could be having issues possibly. A bad ground is also pretty possible. I would have to look, But I do believe that they share a ground on the circuit board on the cluster. The switch may be bad as well. (IE it is shorting and power goes through it instead of where it should go.)
A/C blowing fuses, look for any wires that are broke or the shielding is rubbed through. Older cars like that tend to have those issues. Broken wires and cracked shielding are not uncommon. (I have an '84 z28 and had electrical problems due to wiring and switches, the things only last so long. Hardest thing to do is electrical being a PITA to diagnose due to all the different wires. Especially since the haynes manuals and such do not show the Correct wiring color for the wires heh. That made things real interesting.)
