98 SS monsson amp location?
Hi, all this is a follow up to my post i made a while ago, about my tweeters in my monsoon deck not workin, as u know they are the speakers in the sail pannel, they are actually 6" tweeter subs. Mine however have stopped workin, i believe it to be a lose connextion because sometimes they work and sometimes they dont, but most of the time they dont. Also the passanger side tweeter makes a popping sound (when it works) which also signifies to me a lose connection somewhere? Possibly to the amp? However i have done many searches and have read that the amp is located where the spair tire is, on the back of that pannel right? So i remove that pannel and find nothing but a spare tire and jack as well as a shock sensor for my alarm. I pushed the tire around inside the wheel compartment and found no sign of an amp. I also took apart the plastic pannel where the other speaker is on and found nothing under there as well. Was it a differnet amp location for 98 SS's? Any help at all would be appreciated

It may still be there, in the same place. It's not really easy to see back there. If you get the spare out, and look at the metal work going above the back tire, you should be able to see some black plastic mounted at the top. It will be half behind some other metal work, but it is the bracket holding the monsoon amp...
good luck,

Yeah, I knew what I was typing wasn't very clear...
It should be closer to the fender than the spare tire, but higher, and closer to the front of the car. It is mounted on a plastic bracket, that is bolted to a metal brace above the right rear tire.

So it is located behind the spare tire under a metal bracket in the well. When i was feelin around back there i felt a plastic pannel does that have to do with anything?

thanks for the help shane. I found the amp but i was not able to determine where the lose conection was. Is there anything else it could be? I wiggled all the wires on teh amp and it seemed to make no difference. Is there anything else i could do?

Is it the amp you're trying to access? If so you don't need to remove the sail panel. Just remove the panel covering the spare tire. The amp is mounted on a plastic board above the rear tire. The amp is on the fender side of the plastic board. I think it has two 10mm bolts holding the plastic board in place.
