Alpine iDA-X100...opinons

My Sony headunit's display has been gone for a while, and hopefully shortly after the holidays, ill have some money to replace it.

I almost never play CD's due to my iPod having every CD ive ever owned on it plus much more music. Therefore, this receiver looks real good to me. However I have a few questions about it. My Sony HU currently has 4V pre-out's whereas this HU has only 2V pre-out's. Will this change be noticeable? I by no means have any kind of spectacular set up in my truck, but I do like my music and id rather not be downgrading in the quality of output.

Right now I have a
Sony CDX-M8815X feeding into a Alpine MRP-M500 (well, not that exact one, but the slightly older 400watt one) for my sub, 10" Alpine Type-R. My other amp is a Alpine PDX 2.150 for my Polk/MOMO MMC6500 speakers.

What I want is the Alpine iDA-X100 and adding on the Alpine TUA-T550HD HD radio add on because I would like to listen to radio again and you can "tag" songs you hear on the HD radio and itll automatically let you know what songs you liked the next time you hook up your iPod to your computer.

So I suppose...overall opinion (if you have one) of that HU and the HD add on. Also, the best place to get it. Right now im looking at Amazon for both of them, but for the HD add on its the same price at Crutchfield, so I might go with them.

I got an early Christmas present to use for our Thanksgiving trip...a Pioneer DEH-P6000UB: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P600...6000ub&tp=5684

I got mine on clearance at Wal-Mart for $150. It's FANTASTIC! It works with my 80GB iPod VERY well, looks and sounds great, and still has a CD. It's getting very good reveiws as well. If you can't find it for $150, it's still well worth the $250!

I know that's not exactly the kind of answer you were looking for, but since I recently was HU shopping for a good iPod cable unit, I thought I'd throw it out there since that's what I went with. I looked at the 3 Alpine's that are iPod specific, but in the end, decided that I still wanted to keep CD. I CAN tell the difference between the 2 since I've also got a sub and quality set of componets and a 4 channel amp. It's not noticeable at "normal" volume levels, but when you crank the music from the iPod, it IS a noticeable difference between it and actual CD's.

I would say try ebay prices are pretty good. Also imao alpine sounds way better than sony, but make sure you get the top of the line in whatever model your thinking of getting, I'm trying to decide myself either the ida x-100 or cda 9887 hope this helps you out.
