Bought a head unit and speakers. How did I do?
OK so the specs are as follows:
Pioneer head unit: DEH-P4400
50w x 4
XM ready
(4) Infinity 552i 5 1/4 reference series speakers
I am obviously not going for anything special here. I am just hoping that I won't be disappointed in my purcahse. I just wanted something thats going to sound better than stock. So what do you guys think?

I had a pioneer HU in my old camaro. The head unit was 3 and a half years old and it never gave me problems. From what I understand about pioneer though, I got really lucky with mine. I guess it is all luck of the draw.

Best of luck with that Pioneer. Due to my past experiences with Pioneer (all BAD) I wouldn't own it if you gave it to me. I hope you bought it from an authorized dealer. </font>

I've never seen anyone have problems with Pioneer HeadUnits. I think you'll be very happy with the speakers though. Are you planning on running them off the deck? Or are you going to amp them? They are very clean sounding, with enough power, they would scream!!!

Edit: Any plans to add low end?

So about the system. I love it. It is sooooo much better than the stocker. Much better highs, mids and lows. plays much much clearer and louder. So far I'm not disappointed.
I am already thinking about getting amps and a sub. It won't be soon but I think the mod bug is biting me.
Edit: I forgot to mention that they were wrong on the speaker sizes and were to be 6 1/2 not 5 1/4 so I got the 6 1/2's instead. Also I had no door speaker so that where one set wnt and the others are in the back. The fronts are still stock. BTW I just got home from work and am tired so thats the reason if all this is hard to read.

That is how it used to be for me, now i have one of the cheaper setups i have ever had and it sounds by far the best.... It sounds so good that i don't think i am going to upgrade for a long time.... hell it has already been 7 months since i last upgraded.. for me the winning combination was as follows.
Kenwood 859 ($450)
A/D/S 236im coaxials ($170 authorized)
Arc 2100 (used $200, pushes the A/D/S's great)
Adire Brahma 12 ($305 on the preorder)
Infinity Beta 300 (borrowing, but it is for sale and i might buy it... or else i need to find something 600-2000 watts @ 1 or 4 ohm)
that comes to $1125 out of pocket along with my existing wiring (previous system) and all i need is a sub amp of my own or i can buy the Beta for $250.
I am still in awe of how great it all sounds all for under $1400... but you are right, i did spend MANY thousands searching for the right combination.... i am older and wiser now

Excellent... glad you like the setup. I think a great sounding system is essential in a vehicle. I'm guessing you'll add subs in the future. Put a couple 10" Perfects in a sealed box, you'll never leave the car!!
