Not too sure ,maybe someone who's more familiar with these HUs can tell you but I was just curious as to why you wanted to know?
Incase you were thinking that it would scare off theives, you're better off getting an alarm because any theif with more than half a brain is going to know it's not an LED for an alarm.

Well Eclipse HU to my knowledge do not have removable faceplates. They do have a blinking LED when the security feature is used though. You basically choose any cd and when power is removed from the unit you need that CD before it will work again.
