OK.. First off - Steve - great box, everything looks/sounds great.
Second...
I got everything hooked up last nite and am now starting the break-in process on my subs. They're each in a 1.5cf sealed box (Subthump). How much time should I allow before I really crank it up?? The paperwork says about 2 weeks, but I know it's supossed to be longer break-in in a sealed box.
Oh, and my system...

Thanks for the compliments on the box Mike. I've had my 10" solobarics back in the car for about a month and they're just now starting to sound good. From what I've seen the 10s have a tighter suspension though. But I'd say it will take longer than 2 weeks. If you have a local shop that can hook them up and break them in overnight, that might be worth looking into.

Depends how much you listen to them. With the last subs I bought (my current ones) it took about 2 weeks or approx. 15-20 hours of listening at high levels before they were broken in. For the system I installed in my cousin's car recently it took about 2 months for the sub to break in because he doesn't crank it very often.
Just to clear something up, you don't have to keep the volume down on a new sub and the fastest way to break it in is to listen to it loud. Think about it, if it's not moving very much how is it going to break in?

True, low levels won't make it break in any faster... but I don't want to just dump 800Wrms into the speaker, without it being broken in.. I've een listening to them at a decent level, but not loud enough to make myself go deaf....yet.. ![](http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif)

But if you read Kicker's manual it says "moderate" levels until it's broke in. I would think that just cranking a brand new sub full wattage at loud volumes would be hard on it. Maybe even cause unwanted stress or even failure since you're forcing stiff components to move violently. I think I read that this is the biggest cause of failure--improper break-in. Just like when you get a new car. You're supposed to take it easy for awhile. JMO
