Kicker vs. Polk

'97 T/A Convertible... stock CD Player/Graphic EQ Head Unit... not Monsoon. I've searched around on here.

Lots of people seem to like the Polk DB series (DB6501 components and DB651 coax). But I'm also considering Kicker DS series (600.2 components and 600 coax).

I listen to 80s glam metal primarily so I would like some bass but I don't need to thump. Almost anything has got to be better than what's in the car now. Any thoughts and/or input is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I almost agree with you after finally hearing them today. The display wasn't working right but I was able to hear each one. I wasn't really impressed with either of them and could definitely see either one getting torn up over time if it were to get too loud.

The stock Bose set up in my Z with Pioneer H/U has always been to my liking. I suppose I could figure out a way to get the parts and make that work in the T/A but that would be a lot of work.

I may start out with a set of the Polks in the sail panels and build from there. I can definitely see there's going to be a sub in the trunk sometime in the future. First time for everything, right?

i worked in car audio for 2 years at circuit city... i sold both of those models the entire time... the polks destroy the kickers, with or without an amp on them...

go and listen to them in a store (circuit citys should have them, just went the other day) even if dont buy from there... its 200 for the componants, 100 for the rear coax..

I went to CC to listen to them. Nothing personal, but at least the store I was in ought to be ashamed of itself for not having the display working correctly. Anyhow...

Thanks for all the opinions. The Polks seem good compared to what's out there. But I still think I'm going to need a sub at some point for a little more bass.

HAHAHA, and that is precisely why CC stock is going down the hole lol... (reason i left that company and never looking back.. buncha good ppl, but lol...)

on a side note. my friend is the manager over at our local circuit car audio now (past few months) and now everything is working.. i heard them all hooked up properly and wow.. get the polks...

/circuit rant

but yea, no 6.5 speaker has bass, i dont care is they cost 1000 a pair (best JL components, etc) you want bass, get a sub even if a 10inch CVR kicker, best bang for the buck(i think $90 retail), 350RMS sounds great
