LEDs in doors make BCM unhappy
1995 z28 convert:
So I have hated the sad little bulbs in the doors for years, they went out a couple of years ago and I picked up a 4 set of LED lights. I finally changed the lights out, by cutting out the #74 bulb holders and wired in the LEDs that came with the wiring. I enlarged the holes for more light output and it looks good.
Everything was hunky-dory until I got something out of the car last night. Unlock on the key fob turned the interior lights on but did not unlock the doors (I have been having issues, lock doesn't work but unlock does...did) multiple pushes of unlock and then lock and then unlock actually turned the radio on!!!!
As far as I can tell there is not a power drain, and that replacing the sockets pissed off the BCM. Has anyone ever had an issue like this before? If I wire back the sockets will everything go back to normal?
And a future follow up question, I have been debating deleting the cig. lighter and wiring in a 3 socket power outlet with switches and hiding that under the ash tray, and then cutting a hole where the lighter was and putting in a tranny temp gauge... will that cause problems???

Don't know if this is your problem or even if it's related ?
When I installed a sub and amp I used the trunk latch for a ground .... when I disconnected the
latch there was a factory ground wire on the latch after hooking up the amp wire to the latch my radio turned on by it self ... my keys were in my pocket ??? doors were shut only thing that was open was the trunk

Re: LEDs in doors make BCM unhappy
Yes, I'm sure a 1995 does not have a BCM.
Go to Shoebox's site and look over his wiring diagrams. He has a diagram for the BCM and notes it is for 96/97. I've never heard anything contrary to this in the 15 years I've been helping people on this site.
The wiring diagrams include the interior lighting, as well. He also has photos of the various devices under the dash. Maybe you saw the RAP module (retained accessory power).

Here's your interior lighting diagram - no modules involved (unless you have a Canadian model with DRL's):

Keyless entry has its own controls in the receiver (see photo):
