Pix from F-body Interior Removal and B-Quiet Install

I did this a while ago and posted these pics on LS1.COM, but for those of you who don't go there, check it out:

For those of you considering doing this, ripping out the interior is not very hard. It took about 3 hours for me to get everything out. 45 minutes of those 3 hours was spent on ONE bolt holding my drivers seat to the floor (I have the adjustable lumbar seats).

Heres the pix I have for now. I'll get more pix after I finish installing the rest of the material.

If any of you have questions about removing a particular part of the interior, let me know. I'll also provide a review of my impressions of the B-Quiet Extreme once I have the car up and running again.

I finished installing the B-Quiet Extreme into my car. Initially, I thought 100 sq ft would be enough, but after going through the first roll, (I had 2) it was apparent, I wouldn't be able to finish the whole car including the doors with the other roll. So I figured I would just do the whole interior and go over a couple parts rather than attempt to start on the doors and have to skimp on them.

So, heres some pics of the stuff installed. I did my best to not cover any drain holes, any of the velcro for the walls, seat belt holes etc. I have no plan of putting my rear seat back in, so I did cover up some of that stuff. I took my time, in the end I spent about 6-7 hours installing all of this.

Heres those pix:

Here are my impressions of the material after I got the car running:

Sadly, it had been over 5 months since I last drove the car, so it's a bit difficult to do a true before and after comparison after putting this stuff, in, but I can say this. I have a 228/224 112LSA cam going through LT headers, a Custom Y and a Loudmouth, which as you may guess is a pretty freakin loud setup. Highway drone is greatly minimized with the windows up. The stereo very easily can drown out the exhaust noise. Road and tire noise is almost non-existant. Obviously there is still wind noise (sound dampening cant help that), but I will say that all the creaks and rattles of a typical hatchback are completely gone after doing this. Its hard to say if my stereo sounds any better, cause like I said, its been so long since I heard it, but I can say I have absolutely no complaints. My little 10" MTX Stealbox pounds very hard and does not rattle anything AT ALL. I am very happy with this setup, and would highly recommend it to anyone else considering putting this stuff in.

Very cool!

Just curious, did you by any chance weigh the material before installation? Or does the manufacturer list a weight?

I've been thinking of doing something similar and am wondering how much weight it would add.

Yes, the manufacturer lists the weight as 15 lbs per 50 sq/ft roll. So I added a total of 30 lbs to my car. My car is not a race car, and I gladly will take on an extra 30 lbs for the additiional sound deadening it provided.

I've just recently dynamatted the whole rear section of my car. From the back seats to the trunk. So much work and I'm hoping it will make a big difference. Did you deaden behind the tailights and center piece? How about your hatch?

I did everything except the doors, the headliner, and dashboard. Look at my pictures above. Number 106 shows the hatch area. I covered everything. Even the metal behind the hatch latch.
