Question please help with hu

okay i have a sony explode cd player and just a regular 12"sub connected through the rear speaker. i dont know much just wanted to see if the sub worked. it did but whenever it is loud the decks lights tend to dim in and out when it thumps. i dont have an amp to it just the two speaker wires spliced to the rear. do i need an amp or something to stop that? thanks

If you want to have a "real" subwoofer setup in your car you have to have an outboard amplifier to run it properly. Even then you may run into a "dimming lights" problem. Adding a stiffening cap may help this problem or it may not. It depends on the current demands your stereo is placing on your car's charging system. In that case a new high output alternator is in order.

It may sound complicated but it really isn't all that tuff.
