well, i decided on an orion XTRPRO 2400 amp. ive heard great things abou them. in some way, shape, or form im going to be runnning adire speakers, brahmas or shivas. what configuration would you guys use, i.e. sub size, number of subs, etc. i dont plan on going much further than the one orion amp as i dont want to cripple my electrical system to the point where i need to throw thousands into it.........
thanks for the help,
brian

well, this is the 1st time ive heard a problem with brahmas. also, found out the shivas have INSANE space requirements so i cant get them, plus they are only available in 8 ohms. so here is teh new question i pose which setup with brahmas:
2 10's
3 10's
2 12's
what you guys think?
brian
BTW, i would REALLY be interested to know what that guy did to destroy a sub like that, those things weigh ~40 lbs and look indestructible.

I am not really familiar with that amp, what kind of power does it throw, and at what impedance?
BTW the Shiva is a dual 8 ohm coil.

I'd go with 2 12" brahma's wired for a 2ohm final load. Put each in 1 cu. ft. sealed and don't forget to brace the box.

yeah, 2 12's would be great, im seriously looking at that or 3 10's, as 3 10's with the same power would probably be louder and more efficient for the music i listen to (slipknot, metallica, etc). FWIW, i decided most likely to NOT get the orion amp if i get 3 subs, i will individually power each. the orion is still an option if i get 2 subs however. keep em coming, i sure could use some more opinions!

I put a shiva in a buddies box, just to see how it would sound, and DAMNit sounded sweet. The box wasn't ever the recommended space for that sub either. He had two 12's in his car,and that 1 12" shiva put them to shame.

Can our stock electrical system even handle an XTRPRO2400??? Shiva's wouldn't be able to handle the 2400 anyway. Stick with the Brahmas. I was faced with the 3 10" or 2 12" decision myself. I went the 3 10" route... I like it.. but I think I'd rather have 2 12"s. You will not lose punchyness with the 12"s. It's all in the box. Plus, 2 12"s are a lot cheaper then 3 10"s. Do you listen to any rap or bass music? If so, do 2 12" Brahmas in 1.5 cuft.(before displacement) tuned to 28Hz. If not, go sealed.

I've got a 2 12" Polk MOMO's and they are awesome! They hit REALLY Hard. I listen to alot of TOOL, deftones etc. Althought I am going to get 2 or 3 10's to put in the rear seat for some kick. The 12's sound great but because of there size are not very "tight" sounding. So the 12's I will tune to 20-30hz and the 10's will be at around 80hz
