Ok, the link doesn't work.... however that is roughly what I've been seeing clones go for here in California at those local rip-off classics dealers.

Let me try to answer some obvious questions though...

1.) Is this a good deal? Yes... for the seller.

2.) Will this car increase in value? Maybe, maybe not. I honestly think 1st gen Camaros are still grossly overpriced. That could change gradually or drasticly, depending on when GM announces the return of the Camaro a few years from now. Basically you have a plain Jane that's been hot rodded... that's all. If this is what you really ultimately want, then go for it as you wont have to do anything to it. Is it a wise investment? No.

3.) What is the value of this car? Assuming its a non-numbers matching plain Jane that's been hot rodded, anywhere from $6,000-12,000 depending on sheetmetal condition (rust?) and the condition of the motor, tranny, brakes, paint, etc. The Z/28 stripes actually decrease the value IMO, because although I haven't seen any pictures... on 99% of the clones I have seen, the stripes have been done incorrectly. I'll assume this is one of those because it sounds like the typical 350/350 Z/28 "clone". How anyone has the nerve to call a car that's missing a DZ-302, a 4-speed and the Z/28 suspension a Z/28 "clone" is beyond me... oh that's right.... it has the stripes and badges.

4.) Would I buy this car myself? Not in a million years... well at least not at that price. Maybe if it was between $9,000-11,000... but it would have to be mostly rust free and the engine and tranny would have to be solid. It's definitely not worth $19,000 IMO.... However, if I was the seller... you' bet your *** I'd be asking the same price, because someone will always be willing to pay it.

5.) Should I look for something else? I would.... unless its "exactly" what you want, and you don't have to or plan to do anything to it but gas it and drive it. Even then I wouldn't offer anything close to that price... start at $12,000 and then haggle.

I passed on a super clean blown Big Block 67 RS a while back that was listed for $24,000. Its still available and has been marked down to $16,000. It's a good thing I found my RS when I did... because at that price, I might be tempted.

I have an SS clone 69 camaro. At the swap meets the cars that your describing usually go for around 13-16k. It all depends if it has a show car quality or not. The above price is for a very nice car but you would still be able to drive it. The 20k area would have to be a show car with a frame off restoration and be flawless for a non matching numbers car. You can actually find numbers matching cars on www.autotrader.com. I would go there and see how this car stacks up. Good luck.
