Post Rearend info

I currently have an 8.2 open with 2.73 gears. What I would like is posi 3.42.

1. Is this rearend strong enough to just put an eaton posi in it or

2. should I locate a different rear 8.5 or 12 bolt to put in it.

Anyone have any good sites to order rearends from.

check out http://www.moserengineering.com/ They have bolt in 12 bolt and 9" rears for 1st gens. You should be able to get a better deal $$$ by purchasing it from a vendor like TByrne or Thunderracing.

It all depends on what your going to do with it. I mean if your gonna throw on sticky meats and launch off a transbreak or dump a clutch on a 4 speed then the 8.2 is not gonna hold. If the car is gonna be a cruiser with an occasional red light street fight then the 8.2 should be Ok. I had an 8.2 with 4.10 gear in my 67 for 2 years with a 4 speed and a pretty stout 350. I never had any problems with it until about 5 visits to the strip with slicks. I ended up shooting the ring gear out back cover.

If your gona beat it find a big ten 8.5 or 12.

Thas Just My opinion.
