95 z28 with 383 big cam stalling
Hey guys I'm new to this site and I bought a 95 z28 with a 383 roller motor and it needed a new battery so I put one in and it's been starting fine now I drive it and it will shut off a lot when dropping into second to turn and sometimes at a stop. Will start right back up. I know that I need to adjust the valves from the sound but I feel like this is a separate issue. I do know that the car sat for a long time before I bought it and it has an electric water pump. It's an m6. Just want to know you're thoughts on how I can make more drive able could it need a tune? It does have a very aggressive cam...thanks I'm new to a lot of the technical stuff

Do you have any more info on the motor such as whether it has ever been tuned, or what the cam specs are, or the type/size of your throttle body, etc.
Is your Service Engine Soon light on? If so, you have Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that can help isloate the cause. DTCs are read by scan tool.
If possible, you need to post more info on your vehicle for folks on this site to help.

Re: 95 z28 with 383 big cam stalling
How is the idle? My 383 had similar issues with sometimes stalling and stumbling and the idle would hunt. No codes, turned out to be a bad MAF. Since my PCM was tuned I dont think the SD tables were done so disconnecting the MAF made no difference. If your tables are ok you can try disconnecting the MAF and see if it runs better.

Missed the posting date, figured it was a more recent question. Maybe it will help someone else, my maf issue was intermittent and I didnt know if it was the tune or an engine issue.
