95 z28 electrical issue. HELP!!!

Re: 95 z28 electrical issue. HELP!!!
well, i've already found that it is no spark when it wont start. It never throws a check engine light so the scanner never shows any fault codes. I've also checked the ICM connector when it wont start and everything there looked to have good voltage but i couldnt check Terminal B because i couldnt crank it while testing but i will do this tonight. I will also check the optispark harness for correct voltage while it wont start tonight as well. I guess i just really want to know what testing i can do to ensure whether it is the Optispark or not. I just replaced it a month or so ago and Its gonna suck if that is the problem but i'm not sure exactly how to pinpoint it. Seems like the wiring between that, the PCM and the ICM/coil is one big circle and its difficult to pinpoint just one. What not having the correct voltage when its cranking tells me its the Optispark?

If the Opti is not putting out the pulse signals that are required by the PCM to fire the coil (and the injectors), you will get codes DTC 16 and/or DTC 36. Neither of those codes turns on the SES light.
What kind of scanner are you using?

Re: 95 z28 electrical issue. HELP!!!
My dads diagnostics scanner, it reads fault codes, datalogs, and clears all the codes but just dont have a way to save the datalogs off of it. It works really well, just not showing anything right now. never has shown anything about 16 or 36. It showed something about my high pulse signal failure but that was why i originally changed my optispark. since the change there hasnt been any codes thrown about the opti.
