Re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

I notice that the cable is now using port Com5. Perhaps you were not using the correct port before when you selected Com1. Some older computers have a com port built in and Com1 would be a common location for that.

I forgot to add this: Click on the button to "Close serial port" before you exit this utility program or you may have to reboot the pc to do that. If you do neither, the serial port may not work.

Hello Gary
Thank you for helping me so.
I have a laptop with Win 7 64bit, maybe it works because I ordered an old laptop and a new cable.
Will try it if it is there.

Windows 7, 8 or 10 should be fine. XP is ok too but a bit slow and the screen may be a bit cramped.

Yes, the sensors and air bags are functional, but the dashboard lights constantly air bag

I have a 1995 Z28 with ABS/ASR (TCS)..
Does Scan9495 have the capability that will allow me to go through the proper brake bleed process?

I was finally able to pick up a cheap laptop, (it was an older one, had to update a bunch of drivers to get everything to work together), purchased and installed Tunercat, and downloaded the Scan9495. I’ve been a part of many car forums over the years, and for you to have made not only made a program like scan9495, but also give it for free? Thank you! To have tool like this for these cars is greatly appreciated. Car forums in general may be dying, but I’ve been noticing we have some good guys on this forum who post regularly and really try to help out. Awesome stuff guys!

I am getting a lot of email inquires for help with my app these days, at least 2-3 per week. It would help if these guys would post here first so that everyone could benefit. Kick butt.

Re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

Hello, everyone. Long time member but haven't posted a lot. I'm having erratic idle issues with my 95 Z28 and need to dig into the stored codes. Is everyone still making their own cables or is there a recommendation on one that can be bought? I'm willing and able to make one but would prefer to just buy one if it's quicker. Does Amazon or Ebay have one that someone has had success with?

Thanks!

There are at least 2 sources. I recommend this one: OBD Diagnostics
Some users have had problems with the one from Red Devil River.

Re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

Thanks, Gary! I'll order it today. I'll be scanning as soon as it arrives and posting (on a new thread, of course) what I've done to try to fix. From what I've read so far, Injuneer is the resident guru on reading the data files so I'm hoping he can give me some ideas once I have the data.

Re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1

^ Worked great! I just wanted to make sure before getting it tuned and started modding and throwing money at it that it was running well and the logs look good to me! I'm likely getting a Solomon tune after I get my 3.73 gears, intake and cat-back done to hold me over while waiting on heads/cam, long tubes and ORY-pipe...

I have a 1993 Corvette and I wonder if the scanning program works on my car?
