You have to measure the Opti and PCM related voltages with a meter, or an oscilloscope. I explained that in the posts above, and in another thread.

NO. The OBD2 cable adapter is only used for the OBD1 12-pin connector end, the OBD2 end is discarded. The cable is not OBD2 capable and is also not usable on many earlier OBD1 cars.

I got a hypertech programmer 10 yrs ago it let you change simple things like thermostat temp, fan temp, shift points & wheel diameter.

Update...... I have been getting a lot of requests for advice about making the cables. I have changed my opinion about that being a good idea...unless you are a talented electronics expert. I now suggest buying a cable from aldlcable.com for about $60 + shipping. You will save yourself a lot of the aggravation about going the DYI route.

Well, I have 95 Z28 nearly stock (used iron heads due to budget) LT1 I have finally got running.(checck engine light and popping in the exhaust). Found your software, built the cable to your specs (Very comfortable doing so) and used an old HP 2000 laptop with Win 7 SP1 and all updates including .Net 4.8. I launch the 9495scan.exe, it finds the COM port but reports "No response." I bought a complete ALDL cable from online and still get the "No response." I am wondering if it is the laptop. I did test each USB port without change. I also tried both the 24 and 28 drivers. At a loss to continue. Thanks for any tips.

Oh shoot. Three other things. I bought an ECM programmed to my VIN from Flashmasters as the original was one reason it didn't run. The other is that I used another laptop I had with Win10 getting the same result. After talking with Flashmasters I agree with them that the ECM is not the culprit.

Also you need to install the FTDI Device Drivers for the USB COM Port

Re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1
Already did the COM port verification showing the USB converter driver pointing to the COM port assigned to the USB port the ALDL cable is plugged into.. When I first plugged the USB to 16 pin cable windows prompted for a driver. I pointed it to the FTDI drivers supplied with the scan program. I first selected the early 24 version which didn't work and then deleted it and loaded the 28 version without success. As I tried all three of the USB ports in succession, each port received a different COM port assignment (ie., COM3, COM4 and COM5). The scan program reflected the change in COM port assignment correctly.

What version of scan9495 are you using? The later versions are not usually compatible with WIN XP. Try this earlier one to see if that is the case even though you tried Win 10 also:https://www.mediafire.com/file/tteob...0-8-0.zip/file
Also, where did you buy the cable? I recommend aldlcable.com, others not so much.
And, the app doesn't come with drivers. They are just there in case the automatic installation process does not work.

Version V2-6-2, cable from ALDLcable.com. I am using Win7 with all updates with .Net version 4.8. The link to mediafire didn't work. Looking for an earlier version. Will advise.

Re: Scan9495: Free OBD1 scan app for 93/94/95 LT1
Either I am an idiot, which I seriously doubt or I have run into a software conflict I cannot resolve. Once again I went thru my checklist: USB driver FTDI, COM5 driver FTDI, muti-meter ground (to pin 4 and 5) and Grn/Wht (to pin 9) wires test good. Open older version of program (was very tough to load XP SP2 on laptop) it finds COM3 with FTDI driver and USB converter FTDI. Click connect button and it goes green. Click scan button and it runs on and on and on without error message until finally the SYNC button goes red. I reload Win7 Pro SP! without updates and then load .Net 4.0 manually from standalone installer. Connect FTDI cable and direct it to load FTDI drivers. Check COM3 driver and it is FTDI. Copy program to desktop and run. It opens as usual and I click the connect button, it goes green, but SYNC button goes red. I really like the potentia of the program...Ordered an Actron CP9145 which I got yesterday. It reads the ECM perfectly, I clear the code, fix the blown fuse on the AIR pump and it holds - no more codes. Yet my 95 still pops in the exhaust, runs rich and runs rough with a little bit of backfire.
