Scanned codes...where to begin?

I just scanned my Z28 and got these codes as the SES light is on

MIL DTC
P0443 EVAP Solenoid N0.1 Control Circuit Malfunction

Stored codes
P1411 EVAP system flow during non-purge conditions

Pending Codes
P1411 EVAP system flow during non-purge conditions

I replaced the EGR valve a few months ago as it was stuck in the open position. When I run the vehicle I can smell a real rich exhuast smell/not like gasoline. Any idea where to begin would be helpful. Thanks

When I replaced the EGR valve a while back #14 hose was filled with charcoal pieces.

The charcoal from the canister that resides in your drivers rear wheelwell will break down and block the evap solenoid open and throw the code 1411. I had the code and replaced the evap solenoid (# 7 in the shoebox pic) they are available at any auto parts store and here's what I did to prevent charcoal from entering the sol in the future.evapfilter.jpg?t=1266375278 I inserted a 1/4" filter in the line before the #11 to capture any of the charcoal pieces that can block open the solenoid. If you have charcoal present, you will see it in the filter and replace. I would rather replace a 3.00 filter than a 30.00 solenoid and no more code! By the way just as a preventive measure, I also replaced the fuel filler cap.

Thanks man. I went out and took the EVAP Sol off and it was full of carbon as well. I didn't check that when I cleared out the other line. I put everything back on and went for a cruise. Got halfway turned the car off and started it again and drove back home and there was no codes thrown. usually when I have cleared this code in the past it gets tripped within 5 min of me driving the vehicle. Also I like the filter idea as I plan on doing the same thing for the future. Hopefully that was the issue. Thanks for the help!
