Lightbulb Scanners for Laptops???...

Hey guys,
I want to get a scanner for my car and was wondering if there are ones that i can hook up to my laptop PC instead of buying a scanner, and you would just hook a cable to the laptop and cars OBD II computer. Have any of you used something like this? And is it worth it and where would i buy it?
Thanks

You might want to look at the AutoTap software for your LS1. They make one version that will only scan, and another that allows you to temporarily alter the program (EFILive V5 Pro).

Also, any of the generic OBD-II software should work:

AutoTap scan software.

AutoTap has expanded their product line. They now sell several scan packages:

AutoTap for Windows - KAT1WG ($200 list) - GM only, "generic" parameters:

AutoTap for Windows - KAT1WEPT ($290 list) - GM only, "enhanced" parameters:

EFILive V5 Standard - KAT1EFISTD ($305 list) - Special features for LS1 engines

EFILive V5 Bi-Directional - KAT1EFIPRO - As above, but adds "bi-directional" communication, allowing you to temporarily alter parameters like idle speed, fuel maps, timing maps, etc….

AutoTap for PALM - KAT1PG ($200) - Appears to be the generic parameter version.
