TTS Datamaster problems
I just purchased Datamaster. I hook the cable up to the laptop and the ALDL port on the car. I followed the intructions carefully, but I can't get the program to communicate with the PCM. It keeps saying No PC Sync, and keeps recycling. I opened the file like it says to do. When I test the connection it say Test passed PCM detected, but it will not Sync with the PCM. I used Freescan to verify that the AKM cable works. Freescan works fine. What the hell am I doing wrong. I've got a $120 program that is useless to me right now. When I calle TTS they told me to read and follow the instructions. I guess that's easier saind than done. Please help I have got to scan my car so I can have PCM for Less fix my program. Thanks , Rob.

Yes I ran the Test Com Port command. It says test passed PCM detected. I called TTS and they said to try and install the Beta version of the program to see if that works. They said it might be my USB/SERIAL port adapter, although Freescan will communicate with the PCM. I guess I'll try the Beta version and see how that goes. Thanks for the reply, Rob.

OHHHH- it IS the USB: Try making this setting change:
For the old Datamaster (non beta) go the Serial Data Acquisition form and select Options--Advanced--Disable CCM Handshake and it should link-up OK.
For the new (beta) version select Options--Advanced--USB Serial Interface In Use and it will work great!

Thanks guys. I got it figured out. I went to the serial aquisition screen and enabled the USB interface, but still no worky worky. So I played around with the serial communication timing table and kept adjusting it in increments of one, when I got to 3 it connected and now I'm off and running, Datamaster that is. Well kinda, I smelled coolant and sure enough my blower pulley just ate through my damn radiator hose. That thing was brand new too. Oh well better in the driveway than on the road. Tahnks, Rob.

Rob,
For the USB adapters you "shouldn't" have to adjust the ALDL timing (but if it works...do it) - however, the USB driver needs to be set to the fastest response time. See the datamaster on-line help and look under Miscellanous Topics, "Tips for using USB Serial Port Adapters". That walks you through wetting the driver bor fastest response time. You will have to reboot the PC for the settings to take affect (in most cases).
With the driver set for fastest response time, the ALDL timing should usually be set to zero!
