Exclamation 15 year old racer with questions

What are some of the basic bolt on's i need to get for my 1997 Camaro SS? I've already got a k&n filter and i'm getting my old LT1 stroked to a 383. My friends say i need to get pullys, 3.73 gears, a cam, and Super 40 or Loudmouth exhaust. They all race, but i'm still not sure what i should get with my limited funds. I want to be able to run at least a 12 high and i'm running a 13 high now

Thanx,
Jamie

How exactly is it that you know what your car will run?
Have you actually ran it?
"13 high" isn't a useful piece of data.

Well, you wanna run a high 12 and you want a 383 stroker. Completely unnecessary to run a high 12. In fact you better be in the 11s with a 383 or be kicked in the nads. Pullies are worthless for the most part(in my opinion). 3.73s and a good high quality stall and a rebuilt trans will also be in order bud. These things get expensive real quick.

Re: 15 year old racer with questions

how did you get a drivers license at 15?

That aside...Here is what you will need with a stock internal engine.............Headers,catback, 3.73 gears, 3000-3200 stall converter, mail order tune, and some drag radials.

Man you sure are lucky to have a car like that at such a young age though, be very careful...these things can get dangerous really fast.

My first car was a 97 Mustang GT. I thought it was the fastest car ever, until I drove my Formula And now I'm in the need for some more speed. Headers, then DR's, then heads/cam

That's sounds like an awsome car. I just wanna be able to beat all the mustang gt's that live around me and think that ford is the best thing since sliced bread! They all run about a 13 low!

If your 383 is built right with a good cam and heads, you will demolish a lot of cars in your area I'm sure. Just be careful with the car. Being your age and with that much (possible) power, you can get yourself in a bind real quick.

Oh yeah! I agree you've got to know when and where hot rod around and when and where to be a serious driver! Do you know what my estimated time in the quarter mile would be around after I put the motor back in my car? I was thinking it would be somewhere in the 12 second area.

I've got the 383 kit and we're having the machine work done! Does anyone know exactly step by step I have to do to the computer?
