Question 255/50-16 or 295/35-18 BFG drag radials?

My dad has a 2003 z06 and we are kinda arguing about what kind of tires he should get for track use.

He says there are guys on the Vette website that are cutting 1.6x 60's on the 295/35-18 BFG drags.

I think that the 255/50-16 BFG drags would be able to cut even better 60's because it has a lot more sidewall to flex. He argues that the 18's are wider, so they would hook better. But I think that the sidewall would make more of a difference than the width. Plus I bet the 16's would be lighter.

What do you guys think? Possibly some of you have tried both?

more sidewall the better they are whenm absorbing some of the shock. and they will be lighter, less unsprung wieght is better.

Tough call. The 16" BFG's may not be enough tire (tread width) for a Z06, especially if he's done any mods at all to it.

Heck, if he can afford to race a Z06 then he can afford to try both

Btw, I didn't know BFG made an 18" drag radial. Is this something relatively new
