Airbag Sensor Under Center Counsel

I removed the passenger airbag from the car, but I am leaving the factory steering wheel. I don't want to screw with removing the airbag from the steering wheel so I plan to just leave it there.

My question is this. If I unplug the yellow airbag sensor under the center counsel, will that cause the airbag to false?

Thanks for any help.

I don't think it will. I believe, the part under the center console, fires the Airbags when they are told to deploy, so if you unplug it, you should be okay.

AFAIK, If one airbag is removed neither will fire. If the "airbag" light is illuminated the SRS system is disabled - just like the ABS system.

What's the weight on the bag?

IIRC, the passenger side airbag is fairly hefty. It's also a little more difficult to remove. I'm taking both of mine out(already removed all the firing sensors). With the 5-points in the car, all the airbags will do is inflate right in front of my face.

Does the air bag light come on if you unplug this sensor? Any other ill effects?

Passenger air bag = 14 pounds. Drivers bag = 4 pounds.
