Re: Best R/T
After Jeg Coughlin cut a .000 light yesterday in Pro Stock out in Vegas, Mike Dunn made the very interesting comment that this has been achieved only 58 times, on a professional level, in NHRA competition.

Of course, in the semis WJ cut an .071 and lost with a 6.88@201 to a 6.91@200............

I've raced for 40yrs and had my share of perfect lights. Sunday in the first round I had a .006 light and won. But in the 4th round I went .007 and got beat with a .002. The guy I was racing went 12.058 on a 12.05 and I went 11.770 on a 11.78. Frank95z

That's the same as racing here. Last year I got beat running an .011 package. I stress got beat. The other guy cut a better light and ran closer on the 5th number. Makes you just look at the timeslip and say to yourself oh well, next week. IMO if your cutting .00x on a pro tree your anticipating the bulb, not seeing it. On a sportsman tree you can put the car in kill mode and hammer the 3rd yellow. I'm actually trying for a .00x light. There ain't much difference between a .000 and a -.001 (well except for an early ride home). Two weeks ago I lost in the 3rd round with the car in kill mode by going
-.003. But hey, that's bracket racing.

kazman I remember a race at Louisiana Raceway where I was.001 and my opponent was -.001 and we were both dialed close. When that happens the lights are not affected by what the other guy did. I did go .000 on a 500 protree/footbrake though Frank95z

At the 2004 Summit Race Finals, (during a gamblers race) Jenibella cut a .001 to her opponents .005 light. He dailed in at 11.86 and ran an 11.87 to her 12.17 on a 12.16 dail. I think the actual time difference was like .0014 or something, very close!
