Post clutch

Just wondering which clutch you would recommend for the 94-97 T56 since I have 4.11 Detroit Locker, et streets and drag suspension I know I should be hooking, or pretty damn close when I get my trans in. Just want to know which type you prefer for drag racing. I do drive it 75% of the time on the street though.
Thanks,
Ryan

Do a search of the message board for clutches. Seems to me most people are liking the McLeod Street Twin.

Ya I noticed that last night after posting the question. They were saying that it cost like a grand for one... i would be swayed to get a TH350 with a transbrake instead. It would be WAY cheaper...
Still would be nice to have overdrive and a stick!

My fav is the STreet twin .. I have been through too many clutches and would have saved lots of money if i would have went with it in the first place.. clutch is about 800-900 bucks depending on where you get it from.. Great piece i tell ya and its as smooth as a stock clutch if not smoother. .

What RPM do you launch at when at the track? And how often do you drive it around town?

I am not sure how a built TH350 would be much cheaper, and as you say it would limit you to 1:1 top gear which is quite impractical for a street car. Anyway, the Street Twin is the best choice by far. I also made the mistake of getting something less in the first place and regretting it. The ST has survived 1.5 seasons so far. About 7,500 miles including perhaps 50-60 runs at the strip. Usually I launch my 4,000+lb 700+rwhp car with 11.5" ET Streets at ~4,000rpm. The clutch has survived all that abuse including one memorable (accidental) attempt at a third gear launch (man, did that burning clutch stink!). Don't bother with anything less.

If I were going to an automatic I would get a TH400 and a Gear Vendors overdive. Big bucks, but at least it wouldn't break and the car would still be drivable. There is also a Gear Vendors OD for the TH350 which is also mucho $$$$.

I can get a TCI TH350 with trans brake for $1300 from summit and like $100 to ship. And all the T56 are going for $1500 or more everywhere Ive looked. Plus then another $900 for the Street Twin.... were did you get your clutches? This is a daily driver, but only little miles a day, just sucks if I deside to drive an hour or more away!
Still leaning towards the T56 though, it would be way more fun... plus I can drive to the strip (even though i did with my current th350 and 4.11s, from Santa Barbara to Bakersfield, ran 12.5 and drove home) but took one tank of gas... one way.. about 10 mpg
Thanks for the help.

Don't forget that you're going to need a torque converter, auto flywheel, shifter, etc. which will add some more to the $1400 tab from Summit.

Right, so it really isn't much cheaper. And is the tranny from Summit any good?
