Feathering the clutch
OK, I don't know if this has been asked before, but I'm not sure what everyone means by feathering the clutch, I do know I need a new launch technique, because when I dump the clutch I'll do one of two things, either bog down, or lay down some serious rubber. so when you say feather the clutch do you mean just keep letting up and down on it to hold yourself? if thats true you can't be at the track moving back and forth on the line can you

Not sure what it means, but simply release the clutch as if you were at a stop light. If you are spinnig to much than lift off the gas just enough to keep it form spinning. If your bogging down than just give it more gas. Takes a lot of practice.

Feathering the clutch means slipping it a little instead of dumping it, but you need to be careful. If you slip it too much and get it hot, it may not grab. I have the same problem trying to launch my car, but this is what I do. Keep the RPM's at about 3,000, and release the clutch quickly to cushion the shock. It takes me about 1/2 a second to release my clutch. It slips a little and then engages fairly quickly. I have tried to bring the RPM's up and release it more slowly, but it just gets hot slips like crazy. That's with a new clutch too. My best 60' is 2.07 using this method, which is pretty decent for bargain-basement tires and a 3,800 pound race weight.
