Post First time at the track

I took my Z out to the track for the first time on Friday. The numbers kind of sucked but I'm new to driving stick, and I couldn't get it to lauch good. My best time was 14.4 at 103, but I was getting 2.6 60' times
I let my buddy who can drive stick better run it once and he got a 14.00 at 101 with a 2.4 60'. What't the best way to launch an M6 with stock GSC's? I'm shifting good once I'm going down the track and the mph seem good so it's my launches that are killing me.

The best way i found to launch my m6 on street tires was to hold my rpm at a steady 2500-2800 and then just feather the clutch out. When i could feel that i was getting traction then it went to the floor.

It also just takes practice. My 60's weren't great either but the more i went the better my times got. First time at the track i went a 9.08 and i got that down to a best og 8.60 on street tires. So pratice is the best thing for improving your times.

Some say that for every .1 off of the 60' its worth .15 on the big end. So if thats true then the 14.0 would drop to a 13.4 with a 2.0 60'. What is done to your car and what is it?

Later

Thanks Travis, i'll have to try that technique next time out. The car is a 2002 Z28, bone stock except for a B&M Ripper. Hopefully I can get that 13.4 when I fix those 60' times

Yep those 60's are killing your times.

It just takes practice and then i guarantee you'll be 13.40's or better

Keep us updated on any new times.

You really need to get a spare set of tires to run at the track like some drag radials. You'll see a big difference with those.

Good Luck
Travis
