Getting Better... New Times
The car continues to get stronger. My first time out in July with the Cam I ran a best of 13.04 @ 105. Since then I have been running consistant 12.9's. Tonight I ran a 12.87 @ 106.7* It seems to get better every time out. I can't wait much longer now to get a stall. I truly believe that as it sits now I should have a 12.7 run in it in cooler weather. With that stall I possibly could hit low 12's. That would be sweet for just a cam.

When I had the LT4 H/C I got 324 RWHP on the stock heads as well. I also ran 12.7's@108. I had 3.23 gears though. Once I added the 3.73's and a 2800 converter I ran 12.4's@109-110. So I definately agree with you. A converter is a must and you will see .3-.4 tenths quicker,

I too had heard that before I got a bigger torque converter. I totally agree with the idea of getting into the power band quicker means quicker acceleration. I did substantially lower my 60' time though which is where most people tend to bog or actually lose mph.
People can say what they want about the converter I chose but I gained MPH and NEVER had a over heated tranny. I chose a 2800 10" stall made by Art Carr in California. It is a non-lockup type! I was told by many people I better not intend on any long drives anymore. Well I've driven this thing from New York to North Carolina, New York to Maine and many 1.5 hour trips to Atco N.J to drag race it and never 1 problem with the tranny in a year since I had the 2800 installed.
Perhaps, the TCI aluminum tranny pan which holds two quarts extra tranny fluid and the B&M 24,000 GVW tranny cooler is why. I'll just say this combo seems to work pretty darned good with my transgo shift kit and 3.73's. It did however cost me $560 and another $40 for shipping. So yeah $600 bucks. I have cut consistent 1.6's in the 60' when the track prep is good. Now I'm in the middle of rebuilding the engine with 11-1 pistons, and the new head combo and injectors. I hope to have around 350-360 RWHP and perhaps with the extra HP cut some better 60's,
