Got some drag radials.

Just as the title says. I was having major traction problems and cutting about 2.1 60' at the track, spinning badly, as well as sticking the back end out during the 1-2 shift.

Best run was a 13.5 at 104, any thoughts on how it'll go on the radials? I'm hoping for low 13s, with a 1.9 60'.

Ideas?

You have any suspension mods? I'm looking through your sig and don't see anything. Stock on new tires I would spin on a 3k clutch dump and got the 60 you see down below 2.4.

Now, with a bit more power and LCAs I would catch too well on new street tires on a 3k drop and bog and managed a 2.2. That time is on the track.

I haven't run DRs at the track with VHT, but compared to regular tires when I take off the on the street, my clutch would give before I had tire spin. If it can do that at 3500 rpms on the street, I'm sure they'll hook just fine on a prepped track. I would worry more about your 10 bolt surviving the trip, especially if you do have stock rear suspension and get wheel hop. Don't launch over 4k too much.

You didn't say what kind of drag radial. There is a HHHUUUUGGGGEEEE difference between Nitto DR's and Mickey Thompson Drag Radials! The MT DR's hook similar to ET Streets, where the Nitto's are more of a tire you can reasonably run on the street.

The BFG's....ehh, ever since the MT's came out, what's the point?

You're never going to get a real good 60' time if all you are doing is dumping the clutch. Try feathering it out real fast, rather than dumping, it will help you out a LOT.

so i have the bfg dr's and have been hearing to come out of the hole at like 1500 and go wot as soon as possible, in the past i have been launching at 4-5k but the best 60 i have cut is a 1.999, how much do you think launching lower would help?

yeah, that's how I managed the lowest 2.2. All the dumps were close to 2.3. I was giving an example though to show how well they hooked.

I still suck at finesse though. That and Im too scared at blowing the 10 bolt to leave higher

They are BFG's that I got used. Don't have a whole lot of life left in them, but they were free, I just mounted them on my stock wheels that were sitting around.

Everyone is talking about clutch dumps but I am an A4, which is also why I am less scared of the 10 bolt blowing out.

I plan on going to the track again the first friday after easter.

I had the ET Street Radials in 255/50/16 and loved them. They stick like glue.

BTW, I'm selling them locally. Only 4 passes on them, still basically brand new. Mounted on salad shooters.

Low 13's and they shouldn't spin at all. With a stock converter and 3.42's I'd say they'll go 1.85 and you'll go 13.10-13.20's
